Pub turns blue for NHS
THE Wortley Arms pub was lit up blue for Thursday’s applause for the NHS last week with owner Jamie Ellis saying he wanted to show his support and give thanks.
Jamie told Look Local: “I thought it was a way of showing our support and keeping spirits up. A regular, Charlie, was telling me about what his company, The CFR Group, had done with lighting and I wanted to bring that here.
“We all know a few people who work for NHS, some of my close friends worked as nurses, and we wanted to give back a little bit. It’s all we can do at the moment with us not able to open.”
Lady Rowena Montagu Stuart Wortley, head of the Wharncliffe Estate, said: “We give our full support to all of those who are working on the front line, in whatever capacity that may be, especially to some of our very own villagers who have been working so diligently throughout this pandemic.”
