Park Steels began the campaign after seeing all their income streams stop when the country went into lock down due to the covid 19 epidemic. Along with their sponsorship deals, Steels also lost several fundraising events including the pre-season friendlies against local football league clubs.
At the start of May a crowdfunding page was started and we had an auction for a rare Sheffield Wednesday shirt which was presented to successful bidder Nick Levitt last week.
Steels players have also contributed and are now planning a sponsored 100k run around the region.
A first team player said “As a team us players wanted to give something back to the club. We have decided to aim to run 100k in a day on Saturday 20th June to raise money for the club that is struggling in these difficult times.”
The players are going to start their journey at Chesterfield making stops at Sheffield, Rotherham, Doncaster and Barnsley on the way before finishing the route at the home of Stockbridge Park Steel; Bracken Moor.”
Former chairman and junior section president Allen Bethel have also taken it upon himself to raise funds around the Town towards the cause.
All funds raised are going towards the high running costs of keeping the club in the football pyramid these include ground maintenance, travel costs ,training expenses, insurance etc.
