Fundraiser in memory of Helen Renshaw smashes target
A FUNDRAISER for a much-loved community figure has smashed the £1,000 target, raking in over three times that amount.
Helen Renshaw passed away peacefully at home after a long fought battle with cancer on June 17.
Helen was influential within the community of Chapeltown. She raised money for Chapeltown in Bloom and successfully secured grants that helped the community of Chapeltown so much.
She was also was influential in setting up the Santa’s Grotto at the Old Man’s Hut on the roundabout that families enjoy year afteryear.
The community garden next to the hut meant a lot to Helen and she spent many hours gardening in there with friends, keeping it looking nice.
It was decided by her family that it would be fitting for her to have a bench in the garden along with the others there so anyone that knew her can pop by and remember the good times.
The target of the Go Fund Me page set up by her son Ben Leonard was £1,000 but currently stands at an incredible £3,625 – testament to how much she was loved.
