Chapeltown clinch League

After an even opening 15 minutes, it was Legion who struck first. Adam Simpson picked out the run of hot shot Mitch Savage, who took one touch to control and nonchalantly lobbed the oncoming goalkeeper with his second touch.

RBL settled down and began to play some good stuff and doubled the lead when debutant Luca Defalco beat his man down the left hand side and picked out Savage again, to hit home his 7th goal in just his 4th game for the club.

Southey pressed on in the second half in windy conditions, and after a number of changes got themselves back in the game with a well hit volley outside the area which flew in to the bottom corner.

Legion battled hard and stood up to an onslaught of attacks from Southey, who equalised with 5 minutes to spare. Another goal for Southey would have seen them take the 3 points and therefore win the tournament, but RBL held firm with goalkeeper Mark Newbould showing great composure in the final moments to ensure they finished top of the six team competition.

RBL wish to thank their sponsors and the many spectators that came to support them during the tournament. Following a short break the players will report back for pre season training 20 June.
