18-year-old Sheffielder releases 'single'

Sheffield-based singer/songwriter Holly Littlewood (18) releases single to support mental health charity.

Sheffield born and bred singer songwriter Holly Littlewood (18) releases her second single, entitled "Media" on all streaming platforms on 15th May 2023. The song is an uplifting pop-rock song about the media - in particular social media - and the effect that it can have on people's self-image, anxiety and mental health. It balances with positive messages and affirmations that "it's okay not to be okay."

The release date of 15th May coincides with the start of Mental Health Awareness week and the song is being endorsed by The Mental Health Foundation who run the event. A charity justgiving page has been set up by Holly to raise funds for the charity. Laura Mayes of The Mental Health Foundation said: "It's wonderful to hear about Holly's song and that she'd like to use it to raise funds and awareness for mental health, throughout Mental Health Awareness Week. The money raised will help us to deliver vital research and develop solutions to improve prevention and treatment for the 1 in 6 people affected by mental health problems every week."

Holly, who lives in Stocksbridge and studies Music Performance at The Sheffield College said: "Given the subject matter of the song, it felt right to team up with The Mental Health Foundation to try and raise some funds to support peo- ple who struggle with their selfimage, anxiety and mental health in general. I'm under no illusions and know that even if I donated all of my royalties to the charity, they wouldn't receive much. Therefore, I decided to set up a just giving page so that people who connect with the song can show their support that way."

Media, by Holly Littlewood, will be available to stream on all major platforms from 15th May. You can donate to the just giving page via her instagram: @hollylittlewoodmusic
