Sus raíces proceden de Europa y África. Las dos corrientes más extendidas de la música popular cubana son el Danzón y el Son

i hay algo que atraiga de Cuba, entre sus muchos atractivos, es la música. Por todos es bien sabido que la música cubana nos envuelve, nos atrapa, con sus ancestrales ritmos afrocubanos. En esta ocasión, desde Lookout queremos adentrarnos y conocer un poquito más de cerca los orígenes y la variedad de la música popular cubana.

Para entender la música afro-cubana debemos saber que la más común en Cuba es la Yoruba o Santaria, la Abakua y el Palo. El Danzón y el Son, suponen por otro lado, las dos corrientes más influyentes de la música popular cubana. Los orígenes del Danzón

son muy interesantes, siendo hoy en día una forma artística realmente sorprendente. El Danzón es muy peculiar y si debemos resaltar algo es su particular cuarto golpe del compás cuatro, acompañado de una percusión que no pasa desapercibida. Al repetir la introducción, los bailarines paran, hablan, se miran, saludan… Entonces, vuelven a bailar… El bolero y el cha cha cha son melodías cantadas que se incluyeron en los años 50 en la estructura del Danzón. Se trata de nuevas incorporaciones al Danzón, como estribillos tomados del Son, por ejemplo “El Bombín de Barreto”, pieza clave del Danzón.

Posteriormente, la música al son de violines y flautas comenzaba a tocar la popular Guaracha, una música mucho más movida. En los 70, los Van Van impulsaron el Songo, mezcla del Son y la Rumba. Por otro lado la Timba ha permanecido impasible en toda la música cubana durante 300 años, siendo testigo de varias influencias cubanas. Si queremos encontrar la influencia andaluza en la música cubana, qué duda cabe de que el Punto Güajiro nos cautivará. Desde el siglo XVIII, antes de que existiera el Son, sus orígenes andaluces han evolucionado en Cuba. Esta música se compone de varios instrumentos, entre ellos se encuentra la guitarra. No podemos olvidarnos del Bolero y la Trova Cubana. A pesar de su origen español, el bolero cubano no tiene nada que ver con el nuestro. La popular Trova de Santiago de Cuba fue la responsable de promoverlo a finales del siglo XIX. Es una música muy bella, con armonías perfectas, interpretadas por todo tipo de músicos en toda América latina. Por último, el gran son cubano, sin discusión la música más prestigiosa que existe en Cuba. Base de la salsa, sus influencias son española y africana. On this occasion, we here in Lookout want to delve into and learn a little more about the origins and variety of Cuban popular music.

To understand the Afro-Cuban music we need to know that the most common in Cuba are Yoruba or Santaria, Abakua and Palo. Danzón and Son represent, on the other hand, the two most influential currents of Cuban popular music. The origins of Danzón are very interesting, it is today a truly amazing art form. The Danzón is very peculiar and if we were to highlight any part of it, it would be its particular fourth beat of bar four accompanied by a percussion that does not go unnoticed. By repeating the introduction, the dancers stop, talk, look at each other, greet each other ... And then, go back to dancing ... Bolero and cha cha cha are sung melodies that were included in the '50s in the structure of the Danzón. We are talking about new additions to Danzón, such as choruses are taken from the Son, for example “El Bombín de Barreto,” the key piece of the Danzón.

Se constituyó como un punto importante de conexión entre las ciudades de la península del Yucatán y el resto de Centroamérica. Su visita es importante ya que permite reconocer la evolución de los estilos arquitectónicos del mundo maya.

Su fauna y su flora son un atractivo de esta zona arqueológica, debido a su gran variedad. COBÁ A hora y media de Playa del Carmen, son unas ruinas con un encanto especial que sorprenden gratamente a quienes la visitan y a pesar de que sólo es visible el 5% de todo el yacimiento. El resto permanece enterrado en la selva. Es la pirámide Nohoch Mul, con 42 metros de altura, la construcción más destacada del yacimiento y la pirámide más alta de la península del Yucatán. Se puede subir y, desde ella, contemplar toda la selva y la ciudad maya al completo rodeada de cinco lagos. EL REY Muy cerca de Cancún y del hotel BelleVue Beach Paradise****, su nombre se debe a una escultura que representa un rostro humano con tocado. Cuenta con 47 estructuras que aún tienen restos de pintura en sus muros y representaciones de dioses y símbolos mayas. Entre los edificios destacan grandes palacios con galerías con columnas y un edificio piramidal con templo, donde se enterró una persona importante.

Destaca entre otros el Templo de los Mascarones, muy característico en Quintana Roo por las cinco figuras modeadas en estuco que aún se conservan. Cuenta con muchas áreas abiertas a la visita. SAN GERVASIO Se encuentra en la isla de Cozumel y de visita obligada si se visita la isla. Ofrece una amplia visión del mundo maya con variedad de estructuras tanto en su arquitectura como en el uso para el que fueron construidas. Entre otras edificaciones, la Plaza Central está dispuesta a modo de foro romano. TULUM Puede ser la zona arqueológica más conocida de la Riviera Maya. De forma amurallada, era punto importante para las rutas comerciales y para explotar los recursos del mar. Son miles de turistas los que visitan Tulum. Imprescindible su atardecer. CHICHEN ITZA Junto con Tulum, es de los lugares imprescindibles para quienes visitan la zona. It has many areas open to visitors. SAN GERVASIO It is located on the island of Cozumel and it is a must if you visit the island. It provides an overview of the Mayan world with a variety of structures both in architecture and in the use for which they were built. Among other buildings, the Central Plaza is arranged in the same way as a Roman forum. TULUM It may be the best known archaeological site of the Riviera Maya. Walled, it was also an important point for trade routes and for exploiting the resources of the sea. Thousands of tourists visit Tulum. Watching a sunset in its surroundings is a must. CHICHEN ITZA Along with Tulum, it is a must-see area for visitors to the sites. l Parque Nacional Isla Contoy está localizado 30 kilómetros al norte de Isla Mujeres en donde las aguas del Mar Caribe se unen a las del Golfo de México. El arrecife Ixlaché al sur de Contoy marca el inicio de la segunda barrera de arrecife de coral más larga del mundo, el Gran Arrecife Mesoamericano. Isla Contoy es un área natural protegida desde 1961 y fue decretada Parque Nacional en 1998. La isla deshabitada de 8.75 kilómetros de longitud y una

superficie de 230 hectáreas y una porción marina de 4.900 hectáreas es el refugio de aves marinas más importante del Caribe Mexicano. Sus lagunas, manglares y selvas bajas son hogar para 173 especies de aves registradas. Desde el invierno se concentran más de 10.000 aves incluyendo fragatas, cormoranes, pájaros bobo, garzas, pelícanos café y golondrinas marinas. En el verano, tres especies de tortugas marinas llegan a las playas de Contoy a desovar: la tortuga carey, la blanca y la caguama. De las 98 especies de plantas identificadas, en especial los manglares que cubren el 70% de la superficie de la

isla se han preservado intactos, y albergan muchas especies de aves, reptiles, crustáceos y peces. Las aguas circundante de Contoy albergan más de 234 especies de peces, incluyendo los majestuosos tiburones ballenas y manta rayas. En el Arrecife Ixlaché abundan especies de corales y peces, convirtiéndolo es un lugar con encanto especial para los buceadores de superficie. El número de visitantes al parque está limitado a 200 personas diarias. Se puede llegar a través de embarcaciones autorizadas desde Cancún, Puerto Juárez o Isla Mujeres. Isla Contoy National Park is located 30 kilometers north of Isla Mujeres, where the waters of the Caribbean Sea meet the Gulf of Mexico. The Ixlaché reef, south of Cotoy, marks the beginning of the world's second largest barrier reef, the Great Mesoamerican Reef. Isla Cotoy is a protected area since 1961 and was declared a National Park in 1998. The uninhabited island is 8.75 kilometers long and has an area of 230 hectares and a marine area of 4,900 hectares, and is the refuge to the Caribbean's most important. Lagoons, mangrove and lowland forests are home to 173 registered bird species. Since the winter, more than 10,000 birds come togethere here, including frigates, cormorants, bobo birds, herons, brown pelicans and terns. In the summer, three species of sea turtles come to the beaches of Contoy to spawn: hawksbill, loggerhead and white turtle. 98 identified species of plants, especially the mangroves that cover 70% of the surface of the island, have been preserved intact, and are home to many species of birds, reptiles, crustaceans and fish.

The waters surrounding Contoy are home to over 234 species of fish, including the majestic whale sharks and manta rays. In the Ixlaché reef, abound coral and fish species, making it a place of particular charm for snorkelers.

The bay where the hotel is located is the place chosen by hundreds of large Caribbean turtles to spawn from May to November. The hotel staff and guests plant the eggs in a sort of farm on the side of the hotel to protect them from predators like pelicans. ISABEL DE TORRES No hay viajero que no quede rendido a los pies del teleférico

n la República Dominicana, uno de los principales atractivos turísticos se encuentra en Puerto Plata. No sólo por sus playas, mundialmente conocidas, sino por su popular Loma Isabel de Torres y su teleférico.

El teleférico de la Loma Isabel de Torres fue construido en 1974 por el ingeniero Gilberto Payan y dos técnicos italianos. Todo el equipo fue importado desde Italia para crear sus dos estaciones. La primera de ellas se encuentra en las faldas de la Loma. La

segunda y última, por supuesto en su cima, a 800 metros de altura. No hay viajero que no quede rendido a los pies del teleférico de la Loma Isabel de Torres. Son cerca de 3.000 metros de cable a una velocidad considerable (8 metros por segundo). El teleférico puede soportar hasta casi 3.000 kilos, unas 20 personas. El pico de Isabel de Torres se compone en su mayor parte de calizas arrecifales y margas debajo de las mismas calizas. Son un total de 15 arroyos y ríos los que nacen de esta loma y casi todos ellos se

encuentra bajo la superficie. Su vegetación de bosque húmero propicia el entorno perfecto para albergar las más de 32 especies de aves que allí se encuentran. En Puerto Plata la temperatura promedio es de 25º durante todo el año en la llanura. En la cima, encontraremos brisas y nubes más frecuentes durante el invierno. Las lluvias son frecuentes, alrededor de 1.800 mm al año. Al llegar al pico de la Loma Isabel de Torres, llega la recompensa. Después del vertiginoso ascenso, desde arriba podremos contemplar la majestuosa estatua del Cristo de la Libertad o también conocido como Cristo Redentor. Esta estatua, de brazos abiertos contempla y bendice el pueblo de Puerto Plata. Si hay algo que interese a la mayor parte de viajeros en República Dominicana, es la majestuosa vegetación que allí podemos encontrar. El bosque húmero

montano bajo subtropical es el típico de Loma Isabel de Torres. Algunas especies características de la cumbre son por ejemplo, la Manacia, el Aguacatillo, Abey, Cnmitiilo… Por otro lado, en las laderas bajas o falda de la loma, encontraremos Cigua Blanra, Caoba, Copey, Ruble y Mara… Por supuesto, una vez allí, de lo que se trata es de aprovechar la posición privilegiada al máximo. n the Dominican Republic, one of the main attractions is located in Puerto Plata. Not only for its world-famous beaches, but for its popular Loma Isabel de Torres and its cable car.

The cable car to the Isabel de Torres was built in 1974 by engineer Gilberto Payan and two Italian technicians. All equipment was imported from Italy to create its two stations. The first one is located at the foot of the Loma. The second and final one, of course, in the summit, at 800 meters. No traveler can help feeling overwhelmed at the foot of the cable car to Loma Isabel de Torres. It is about

3,000 meters of cable at considerable speed (8 meters per second). The cable car can support up to almost 3,000 kilos, about 20 people. The summit of Isabel de Torres consists mostly of reef limestone and loams below them. There are a total of 15 streams and rivers that spring from this ridge and almost all of them under the surface. Its humerus forest vegetation provides the perfect setting to house the over 32 species of birds that can be found there. The average temperature in Puerto Plata is 25 degrees year round on the plain. At the top, we find more frequent breezes and clouds in winter. The rains are frequent, around 1,800 mm per year.

MAJORELLE, el jardín azul de marrakech

En muchas ocasiones la historia nos habla de jardines que se convierten en el sueño y la pasión de los hombres. Los Jardines de Majorelle, en Marrakech, fueron el sueño de dos de ellos: el pintor Jacques Majorelle y el diseñador Yves Saint Laurent, quien los recuperó en los años 80 para donarlos años después a la ciudad marroquí LKT36

os Jardines de Menara son los jardines más conocidos de Marrakech. Fueron creados en 1870 sobre un antiguo estanque almohade y su principal atractivo son sus árboles, que confieren al espacio el verdor y la frescura tan necesaria en esta ciudad al norte de Marruecos. Sin embargo, existen otros jardines que llaman más la atención, no por su tamaño o por su fama, sino por su historia y por su peculiaridad: se trata de el Jardín de Majorelle, ubicado en la Ville Nouvell o ciudad nueva. El primero hombre que soñó con los Jardines de Majorelle fue el pintor que le dio su nombre, Jacques Majorelle, hijo del Louis Majorelle, quien fuera uno de los percusores de L´École de Nancy, emblema del Art Nouveu francés. En el año 1919 un jovencísimo Jacques Majorelle de apenas 23 años viajó a Marrakech, quedándose hechizado por la medina, la ciudad vieja, sus luces, sus mercados y sus aromas. Instalado ya en este rincón de Marruecos, Majorelle decide comprar un terreno a las afueras de la ciudad, cerca del palmeral, y años después, a principios de la década de los 30, decide construir allí una casa en la que instalarse y tener su propio taller. La villa creada por Majorelle se inspira en el Art Decó y el Le Corbusier, e incorpora patios, balcones y zonas de paseo muy al estilo modernista. Amante de la botánica, el pintor decide crear en los alrededores de su villa un gran jardín botánico que se convierta en su mejor obra de arte. Se decanta por las especies más raras y exuberantes, traídas de sus viajes por todo el mundo y siguiendo la estética que sólo una ciudad como aquella podía inspirarle, convierte su jardín en una gran recreación de los palacios de los califas. Adorna espacios con fuentes y recrea pequeñas cascadas de agua, incluye cuencas y jarras

de cerámica como decoración y construye alamedas para largos paseos y una pérgola de estilo oriental para protegerse del Sol. Cerca de su casa, decide construir un par de casas estilo bereber en las que instalará su taller. El resultado, es un gran palacio vegetal. En 1937 Majorelle crea su propio color, un azul intenso, purpúreo muy saturado y pinta con este color las paredes de su taller, las pérgolas, tinajas y cuencos que adornan las casi cuatro hectáreas del parque, ofreciendo un espectáculo de contraste de colores inigualable. El azul Majorelle lo invadió todo, convirtiéndose, para siempre, en la seña de identidad más notable del jardín. Tras la muerte de Majorelle en un accidente de tráfico en 1962, los jardines quedan abandonados y ya en los años ochenta son adquiridos por el diseñador y modisto francés Yves Saint Laurent, quien quiere recuperar su espíritu y majestuosidad. Instalado en Marrakech, Saint Laurent reservará la antigua casa para su uso privado y convertirá el antiguo taller de Majorelle en el Museo Islámico de la ciudad. En este espacio, abierto al público, decidió exponer una importante parte de su colección privada de arte que incluye cuadros, esculturas, joyas, cerámicas y textiles de diversa índole. Por supuesto, el modisto francés no olvidó en ningún momento el valor botánico de este paraje, y por eso centró gran parte de sus esfuerzos a ampliar las especies que pueden verse en los jardines, de las 135 a las más de 300 que hay en la actualidad. A pesar de no ser un Jardín Botánico especialmente amplio, incluye especies de los cinco continentes. Tras la muerte de Yves Saint Laurent en 2008, el jardín pasó a depender de la ciudad. Hoy en día, más de dos decenas de jardineros y botánicos trabajan por mantener este espacio que se ha convertido en uno de los reclamos más importantes de la ciudad. ▲

On many occasions history tells of gardens that become the dream and passion of men. Majorelle Gardens in Marrakech were the dream of two: the painter Jacques Majorelle and designer Yves Saint Laurent, who recovered them in the '80s to later to donate them the Moroccan city

They were created in 1870 on an old Almohad pond and its main attraction are its trees, which give the space the greenery and freshness as required in this city in northern Morocco. However, there are other gardens that catch our attention, not for its size or by reputation, but for its history and its peculiarity: the Majorelle Gardens, located in the Ville Nouvell or new town. The first man to dream of Majorelle Gardens was the painter who gave it its name, Jacques Majorelle, son

of Louis Majorelle, who was one of the precursors of Ă&#x2030;cole de Nancy, emblem of the French Art Nouveu. In 1919, a very young Jacques Majorelle at just 23 traveled to Marrakech, and was enchanted by the medina, the old city, its lights, its markets and its aromas. Already installed in this corner of Morocco, Majorelle decided to buy land on the outskirts of the city, near the palm, and years later, in the early '30s, decided to build a house there where he would settle and have his own workshop. The villa created by Majorelle is inspired by the Art Deco and Le Corbusier, and incorporates patios, balconies and walking areas in a very modernist style. Botany lover, the painter decided to create around his villa a large botanical garden that became his best artwork. Opting for the rarest and most exuberant species brought from his travels around the world and following the aesthetic that only a city like that could inspire, his garden became a recreation of the palaces of the caliphs. He decorated spaces with fountains and recreated small waterfalls, included ceramic basins and pitchers as decoration and built a boardwalk for long walks and an Oriental-style pergola for sun protection. Near his house, he decided to build a couple of Berberstyle buildings which would become home to his workshop. The result is a large plant palace.

In 1937 Majorelle created his own color, an intense blue, highly saturated purple, and painted with this color the walls of his studio, pergolas, jars and bowls that adorn nearly four hectares of the park, offering a contrasting spectacle of unmatched colors. Majorelle blue invaded everything, forever becoming the most striking sign of identity of the garden. After the death of Majorelle in a traffic accident in 1962, the gardens were abandoned and in the eighties they were acquired by the French designer and couturier Yves Saint Laurent, who wanted their spirit and majesty. Installed in Marrakech, Saint Laurent's would preserve the old house for his private use and convert Majorelle's former studio in the Islamic Museum in the city. In this space, open to the public, he decided to expose an important part of his private art collection including paintings, sculptures, jewelery, ceramics and textiles of various kinds. Of course, the French couturier at no time forgot the botanical value of this place, and therefore focused much of its efforts on expanding the species that can be seen in the gardens from the 135 to the 300 that are in the today. Despite not being a particularly large Botanical Garden, it includes species from five continentes. After the death of Yves Saint Laurent in 2008, the garden became dependent on the city. Today, more than two dozen gardeners and botanists work to keep this space that has become one of the most important attractions of the city. â&#x2013;˛

BlueBay Group has signed an agreement for the construction of large hotels within the resort Natura do Rio over the area of 200,000 m2, to be located in the municipality of Maricá. The complex will have a total of five hotels with 1,700 rooms.

Este año, el festival celebra su 13ª edición. El evento tiene lugar cada año desde 2003 en Pera, Algarve, concentrando a miles de visitantes en todas las ediciones. La arena es tratada por un grupo de escultores de varias nacionalidades, experimentando con diferentes técnicas. Los artistas consiguen crear piezas originales y sorprendentes por sus medidas, técnica y aspecto estético. Este festival de esculturas de arena está considerado el evento más grande en todo el mundo, teniendo en cuenta que se emplean alrededor de 40.000 toneladas de arena, cubriendo una extensión total de 15.000m2. Algunas de las esculturas llegan a alcanzar la sorprende altura de 12 metros, representando

detalles sorprendentes de personas, objetos e incluso diferentes escenarios… Todo un lujo para el espectador. En esta 13ª edición los visitantes tendrán la oportunidad de disfrutar de cientos de escenarios de arena, representaciones altamente creativas, músicos, instrumentos y culturas de todas partes del mundo. Este festival de esculturas también ofrece una serie de actividades relacionadas con la escultura de arena, como talleres o demostraciones para enseñar el arte de la escultura, las vídeo proyecciones, juegos y concursos.

De noche, las esculturas se iluminan en un especial juego de luces donde, desde diferentes ángulos, el visitante disfrutará de la puesta en escena, dejándose asombrar por la majestuosidad de las esculturas y los efectos de la iluminación sobre ellas.

Los niños también pueden disfrutar de esta fiesta gracias a una zona exclusiva donde podrán tocar la arena e intentar probar su destreza esculpiendo sus propias figuras. De este modo, los más pequeños podrán comprobar hasta qué punto llega su destreza artística. También, encontraremos restaurantes y zonas de ocio donde disfrutar de música en directo, espectáculos de baile y actuaciones circenses.

IESA is the greatest exhibition of sand sculptures ever built. This year, the festival celebrates its 13th edition. The event takes place every year since 2003 in Pera, Algarve, gathering thousands of visitors in all editions. The sand is worked by a group of sculptors of various nationalities, experimenting with different techniques. The artists manage to create original and surprising pieces for their measures, techniqueand aesthetic appearance. This festival of sand sculptures is considered the biggest event of the kind in the world, considering that around 40,000 tons of sand are used, covering a total area of 15,000 m2. Some of the sculptures reach the surprising height of 12 meters, representing astonishing details of people, objects and even different scenaries ... A true treat for the viewer.

In this 13th edition visitors will have the opportunity to enjoy hundreds of sand scenaries, highly creative performances, musicians, instruments and cultures from all over the world. Each piece, each sculpture is accompanied by the corresponding information for the visitors to give them details of the sculpted elements. At the same time, the exhibition is organized in different areas, depending on the subject. For example, at FIESA, we will find areas devoted exclusively to pop, rock, religion, children's music, circus ... This sculpture festival also offers a number of activities related to sand sculpture, such as workshops and demonstrations to teach the art of sculpture, videoprojections, games and competitions. Entre la riqueza histórica y cultural de Ronda, no podemos olvidar su esmerada selección de bodegas, sin lugar a dudas, de las más importantes de España

iajar al Sur es viajar a Ronda. No cabe duda de que una de las ciudades más emblemáticas de Andalucía es Ronda, lugar imprescindible para conocer la historia y el patrimonio cultural de la región. Joyas históricas como el Tajo o Puente Nuevo, con cerca de 100 metros de altura, la Plaza de toros de la Real Maestranza de Caballería de Ronda, la muralla que protege la ciudad y sus puertas islámicas, las iglesias, el Palacio del Rey Moro o los baños árabes. Definitivamente, no podemos perdernos los encantos de Ronda.

Por supuesto, la gastronomía es uno de los puntos fuertes de la ciudad. Y cuando hablamos de gastronomía, hablamos de vinos y por este motivo, Ronda ya tiene presencia y prestigio como una de las ciudades con las bodegas más auténticas de España. Perteneciente a la DO de Málaga y Sierras de Málaga, el clima de Ronda es muy cálido en verano y extremadamente frío en invierno. Este clima y las características del suelo, la hacen perfecta para el cultivo de viñedos, ya descubierto por los romanos. Ellos lo denominaban “tierra de uvas”… Existen numerosas visitas guiadas a las principales bodegas de Ronda, incluyendo una explicación de la elaboración del vino, degustaciones, catas, en muchos casos realizadas por los mismos bodegueros y propietarios. La característica común que se cumple en la mayor parte de

estas bodegas es que en su mayoría son pequeñas y sumamente cuidadas. Uvas no autóctonas como el Tempranillo, Pinot Nori, Cabernet Sauvignon, Petit Verdor o Merlot… Probablemente el viticultor alemán Federico Schatz sea el que lleve más tiempo dedicado a este arte, trayendo uvas de su tierra, desde Lemberger y Riesling. Su mejor vino es el Acinipo, un tinto afrutado, especiado y con mucha complejidad. Por supuesto, sería imposible enumerar en este artículo todas las bodegas de Ronda, pero sí que incluiremos a continuación algunas que no podemos dejarnos en el tintero. Comenzamos por las Bodegas Morosanto, desde 2005 a los pies de la Sierra de Cumbres, a 10 kilómetros de la ciudad romana de Acinipo. Cerca de 30 hectáreas cultivadas con vid, además de olivos y encinas. Son muchas las bondades que ofrecen estas tierras, ya cultivadas de los siglos I y VI d.c. La familiar bodega García Hidalgo en el Llano de la Cruz de Ronda. Miguel García Pereila está al frente de la familia, cuidando hasta el más mínimo detalle con técnicas tradicionales y abonos naturales. De producción pequeña, prefieren dar más importancia a la calidad que a la cantidad, alcanzado vinos potentes en color, estructura y aroma. Y así podríamos seguir al detalle dando a conocer todas y cada una de las bondades que esta tierra aporta a los vinos. Otras bodegas que también debemos incluir en nuestra lista son: El Chantre, un vino potente y elegante; Descalzos Viejos, ubicada en una iglesia gótico mudéjar donde podemos destacar el DV2006, hecho con Syrah, Merlot y Garnacha; la bodega del Cortijo Los Aguilares, la de El Juncal… El resort BlueBay Banús**** de Grupo BlueBay se encuentra a tan sólo una hora de Ronda. Subir a este tren es viajar al pasado por un momento mientras se desconecta al son del traqueteo. La línea ferroviaria es de vía estrecha antigua y cuenta con maquinaria inicial, materiales antiguos y mantenimiento artesanal. El ferrocarril parte de Palma de Mallorca con destino Sóller y con paradas en Son Sardina y Buñola. Desde Sóller, un tranvía la conecta con el puerto de la localidad a 4,9 kilómetros de distancia y atraviesa coloridos campos de cítricos. Sóller y su tranvía son un atractivo turístico, sobre todo para familias. Taking this train is like momentarily traveling to the past, while you disconnect to its rattling sound. Esta terminal tiene un carácter único, ya que sólo está habilitado durante el “Hajj”, la peregrinación a La Meca. Durante este período que dura seis semanas, se convierte en uno de los aeropuertos más transitados del mundo. La terminal Hajj obtuvo el reconocimiento del American Institute of Architects, como un diseño que resiste el paso del tiempo. Este aeropuerto está compuesto de tiendas de campaña blancas de fibra de vidrio al aire libre, con lo que se crea un efecto chimenea que permite ventilar el aire caliente del desierto, sin emplear aire acondicionado. Las instalaciones pueden contener hasta 80.000 personas, con espacios flexibles dedicados a actividades inusuales en una terminal aérea, como el lavado ritual de pies. ara seguir practicando deporte durante el verano, los médicos recomiendan ciertas pautas que no debemos olvidar. Sobre todo son recomendaciones y precauciones a tener en cuenta para no sufrir los efectos del sol y el calor. Es lógico pensar que las mejores horas del día para practicar deporte durante el verano son las más frescas, es decir, primeras hora del día y última hora de la tarde. Los médicos recomiendan estar siempre hidratados. Si el ejercicio es breve y dura no más de una hora, tomando agua fresca cada 15-20 minutos, es suficiente. Pero, si se alarga más de una hora, lo recomendable es tomar líquido cada cuarto de hora durante el ejercicio. La ropa es mucho más importante que durante los días fríos. En verano, lo mejor es llevar colores claros, así evitamos los efectos del calor. Al mismo tiempo, debe transpirar todo lo posible. Por supuesto, es muy recomendable usar gorras o sombreros para proteger cabeza y cara.

Pero, sin duda, ha sido el paso al mundo digital el que ha hecho que las auto fotos de toda las vida se hayan convertido en ‘selfies’ que, incluso ayudadas de un palo, sacan nuestra mejor pose acompañada del mejor contexto.

Más allá de monumentos y edificios de interés, los ‘selfies’ inmortalizan nuestras experiencias y sensaciones en lugares espectaculares, restaurantes con platos apetitosos y bares glamurosos. Y es que, al objetivo inicial de guardar un recuerdo, se le suma la necesidad de la aprobación social. A día de hoy, si nuestras experiencias no se muestran de forma online, significa que no se han vivido. VILA-ROVIRA CIRUGÍA PARA EL ALMA

Director del Instituto Vila-Rovira en el Centro Médico Teknon de Barcelona y pionero en diversas técnicas de cirugía plástica y estética, ha publicado el libro “Cirugía para el Alma”, en el que se atreve a contestar a preguntas tan complejas como qué es la belleza y si es posible conseguir la felicidad por medio de “agujas”. LO: ¿Acuden a su consulta personas para solucionar sus problemas de autoestima, matrimonio o para mejorar en su carrera profesional…? LOOKOUT: ¿Cuál ha sido su inspiración para “Cirugía para el Alma”? DR. RAMÓN VILA-ROVIRA: Mis pacientes fueron la inspiración. A lo largo de los años he podido comprobar que en la mayoría de ellos, por no decir en todos, el objetivo inconsciente es mejorar su vida personal e íntima, porque todas las intervenciones que hago de cirugía estética y plástica, tienen una finalidad para mejorar el interior, aunque tiene obviamente mucha importancia el resultado exterior.

DR. R. V-R.: Sí, muchísimas. Y a esto es a lo que refería en la anterior respuesta, cuando diferenciaba entre los tipos de motivaciones con las que acude a nosotros un paciente. En estos casos, lo más habitual es que el paciente a corto plazo esté feliz, pero a medio/largo plazo siga sintiéndose insatisfecho.

LO: ¿La cirugía puede llegar a corregir las heridas del alma?

LO: Como usted señala en su libro, para cambiar por fuera es necesario cambiar por dentro: cuestionarse los hábitos, analizar las motivaciones y plantearse la forma de ver la vida. Sólo a partir de ahí, cuando una persona es bella por dentro, puede serlo también por fuera. ¿Qué papel juegan la cirugía y la medicina estética en el proceso?

DR. R. V.-R.: Puede contribuir a ayudar, sí. Pero siempre que sean heridas relacionadas con no sentirse bien por un complejo físico. Si es así, lo resolveremos fácilmente y el paciente se sentirá mejor, feliz y satisfecho. Si por el contrario la herida del alma no tiene su foco en un complejo físico, será bastante más complicado.

DR. R. V.-R.: Más que “ser bella por dentro”, creo que lo que marca la diferencia es estar en equilibrio. Si una persona está equilibrada y decide mejorar su cuerpo con la ayuda de la cirugía, todo será más fácil y tendremos muchísimas más probabilidades de lograr la satisfacción total del paciente.

Si, por el contrario, una persona no está equilibrada y vuelca todas sus esperanzas de cambio en la cirugía, lo más habitual es que no obtengamos la satisfacción del paciente. Porque en estos casos su satisfacción no solo depende de los resultados de una cirugía, sino que también estará condicionada por todas las esperanzas que el paciente haya depositado en la intervención. En el primer caso la cirugía ayudará al paciente a sentirse mejor, en el segundo caso probablemente solo contribuya a un cambio físico. LO: ¿Qué le motiva, cada día, con sus pacientes en la consulta? DR. R. V-R.: Todo. Me encanta mi trabajo sobre todo porque cada día es distinto. Pacientes distintos, casos distintos. Me encanta el proceso y me motiva muchísimo el resultado cuando satisface plenamente al paciente. LO: ¿Cómo descubrió su vocación de cirujano plástico y estético? DR. R. V-R.: Me abrió los ojos el oftalmólogo Gabriel Pérez-Bufill. Él fue quien, en los años setenta, me habló de la cirugía plástica como una especialidad con mucho futuro. En ese momento yo acababa de estudiar medicina. Poco después conocí al doctor Jaume Planas y en ese momento fue cuando realmente decidí que quería formarme como cirujano plástico. Fue un flechazo. Quería ayudar a la gente a superar sus complejos o defectos.

LO: ¿Cuál es el precio medio de un tratamiento? DR. R. V-R.: Cuando se trata de intervención estética la horquilla es muy amplia. Hoy en día podríamos decir que el precio medio se situaría en unos 6.000 euros. LO: A menudo se cataloga a la cirugía estética de frívola y superficial. ¿Qué le parecen estos calificativos? DR. R. V-R.: Me parece que quien diga esto ignora por completo el sufrimiento con el que acuden nuestros pacientes a la consulta, y nuestro trabajo obviamente. LO: Aun así hay mucha gente que cree que una intervención estética cambiará su vida casi de forma milagrosa… DR. R. V-R.: Sí, pero nosotros mismos somos responsables de informar muy bien al paciente e insistir hasta que no exista ninguna duda. Intentamos no intervenir hasta haber dejado claras las expectativas precisamente para evitar que el paciente quede insatisfecho. LO: ¿Cuáles son los principales elementos de innovación en la cirugía del siglo XXI? DR. R. V-R.: En mi opinión el futuro está en el uso de la propia grasa del paciente. Tiene multitud de aplicaciones y elimina prácticamente todos los riesgos de rechazo, por lo que me parece un auténtico avance. También se está estudiando mucho el tema del uso de células estromales y de células madre.

LO: ¿Cuál es el perfil tipo de usuario de su cirugía y cómo llega a su consulta?

LO: Viajes y operaciones de cirugía, nuevo concepto… ¿Cuál es su opinión?

DR. R. V-R.: El perfil tipo es una persona preocupada por un aspecto de su físico. El paciente más importante es el que llega por el boca a oreja, el recomendado por algún otro paciente al que ya he operado.

DR. R. V-R.: Lo ideal es que una persona se opere cerca de donde viva (máximo a dos horas) porque así el postoperatorio es mucho mejor si tiene al equipo médico cerca de su domicilio.▲

LO: Do people come to your office to solve their problems of self-esteem, marriage, or to improve in their professional career…?

DR. R. V-R.: Yes, many do. And this is what I meant in the previous answer, when I differentiated between types of motivations with which a patient comes to us. In these cases, what usually happens is that the patient is happy in the short run but in the medium / long run, they will continue to feel dissatisfied. LO: As you point out in your book, in order to change on the outside, it is necessary to change on the inside: to question one's habits, analyze motivations and think on the way one views life. Only from there, when a person is beautiful on the inside, he or she can also be beautiful on the outside. So, what role do surgery and aesthetic medicine play in the process? DR. R. V.-R.: Rather than "being beautiful on the inside," I think what makes the difference is to be in balance. If a person is balanced and decides to improve their body with the help of surgery, everything will be easier and we will have a much greater chance to achieve total patient satisfaction. Because the patient will be able to understand how we can help ourselves and will appreciate the results.

LO: What motivates you every day with patients that come to you? DR. R. V-R.: Everything. I love my work especially because every day is different. Different patients, different cases. I love the process and the result motivates me a lot when it fully satisfies the patient. LO: How did you discover your vocation as plastic and cosmetic surgeon? DR. R. V-R.: Ophthalmologist Gabriel PĂŠrez-Bufill opened my eyes. It was he who, in the seventies, talked to me about plastic surgery as a specialty with a great future. At that time I have just graduated from medicine. Shortly after I met Dr. Jaume Planas, it was at that moment was when I really decided I wanted to train as a plastic surgeon.
