The lake is said to have a lot of fish (and, as it later turned out, it does have). These circumstances and two anglers nearby inspired me to pack out my tackle on the Jetty next to József. We didn't think a lot about the method of feeding; we decided on two types of feedbait. Both were excellent, like in a good restaurant.

The one we used more of was the XT81 chilli groundbait stuffed with cereals and pellets. The other one was a dish for gourmets, the perfect, faultless bait, the hookbait and the Protein Bomb Explosive Feeder Method Mix. Having finished mixing the groundbait, I could start fishing. I attached the marker made from an old spike float, cast it in to about 40 I quickly packed metres, and I fed in that place. As a out my tackle

line marker I used my red Top Mix one because that was the one with the best visibility on the light-coloured Korum Reel Line. After feeding, all I had to do before fishing was to set up my tackle. For the reason of abundance, I needed a little time to figure out what I wanted but finally I decided on a 30-gram sliding feeding basket, which I limited from the bottom only by means of a Korum Quick Change Bead, into which I put a Powerline 15 rig with a Korum S3 hook, a hair-rig supplied with a Quickstop. While I was putting together my tackle, József decided to mix another type of bait for use in the feeding basket. He poured Protein Bomb Carp Method Mix into his It is important for us to find bucket, and added a great deal of the fed location again

BIG CARP SERIES A series of new groundbaits composed of the finest ingredients with carp fishing in mind. The taste, the colour and the coarseness of the various groundbait componets were carefully selected. Our only goal was the successfulnes in every fishing situations. Due to the requirement, the groundbaits contain quickly dissolving particles for a fast pulling effect. The C.S.L. pellet content (which pellet is a good carp bait in itself) is the slowly dissolving groundbait component, and the pellet keeps the fish on the feeded area for a longer period. The coarsely grained fluo red, orange and yellow particles (English breadcrumb) are flavoured with a sweet carp aroma mix. Thanks to the highly visible fluo colour fish can find our feeding even in muddy water. Only natural aromas and additives were used which enhances the attractivity of the groundbait. The increased amount of carruba additive makes more irresistible the groundbait for carps. Can be used for the usual ground baiting or can be used for cage or method feeder, and even for carp fishing competitions. Its firmnes varies with the amount of added water. Quite sticky, so a good carrier for feeding seeds. With a good catapult we can cast a ball of groundbait over the horizon. It can be also used for river carp fishing when mixed with gravel for an increased weight.

In muddy rivers the fluo particles are a must. The series consists of five different groundbaits distinguished with an XT label and unique numbers.

some water – what I could see was really exciting. The wet groundbait adhered to the dry pellets, so the bait would last in the feeding basket. The pellet balls with groundbait also looked really promising. After all this, we finally got to fishing. I turned to József to ask him a question but when I looked back, my rod was standing, bent in a right angle, in its rack. I felt the promising resistance at the end of the line and, after a short play, I caught a sweet, little one-and-a-halfkilo carp. It often happens that anglers become big-headed, which causes their first fish of the day be the last one for them.

This is not what happened this time! One catch after the other – I was hardly able to play the fish. A small fish, then a big fish, then a small one again. Catching was virtually continuous and I started looking for a type of bait that carp would not catch on immediately. But if you think it is really something it means you didn't see what was The most successful going on at the neighbouring jetty. It happened bait of the day that József didn't have the time to put the rod back into its rack after casting in ten subsequent times because carp were pulling the rod out of his hands. Out of these ten catches, four carp weighed more than 5 kilos. My most successful bait was fish soft pellets that hold on the hook but József was successful with hard, floating pellets called Soft Pellet. Although we were fishing only three and a half hours actively but we caught as many fish as what is considered enough for a whole day. I caught a total of about 50 kilos myself but that was n o t h i n g compared to the total of 60 kilos József achieved.

It doesn’t have a definite odour (e.g.. strawberry) because no flavour has been added. So, its ingredients determine its odour (this is typical of each product in the Winner series). It has a light touch of cocobelge in fragrance, accompanied by some sweet odours, such as vanilla, toffee, chocolate, etc. Add 0.87 litres of water to each kilogramme of groundbait to get the right consistency. Not getting curdled when wet, it is easy to prepare. It is practical, however, to add water in two or three stages. Let it rest for a few minutes after adding the first portion of water then add the rest of the water. This groundbait quickly dissolves in the water. It releases granules both upon touching water and when moving downwards (sinking) in the water column, thus enhancing instant attraction of the fish.

It contains ascending granules as well.

260 WINNER Bleak Groundbait Owing to the large amount of chrysalis contained in it, the groundbait of the Winner series for bleak fishing is quite smelly for the human nose. This groundbait is suitable for bleak fishing both in a dry and in a wet state.

“Dry” means mixing the bait with as little water as possible for it to become castable, while “wet” refers to the customary, creamy consistence of the mixed bait.

The bait is coarse-ground with larger grain size to select bigger bleak. When achieving the desired creamy consistency, leave the mixture to rest for a while to enable it to take up some more water. This is the only way to get the suitable consistency. The bait becomes darker when mixed, due to its chrysalis content. It has an oily touch and covers a large area in the water. The bait balls fall apart gradually and distribute evenly in the water. Its considerably large particles are well visible. In this way, the bait targets bleak of larger size. It is not the water surface but a little deeper, at least at 30 to 40 centimetres of depth where this bait is the most efficient.

This bait attracts fish constantly and reliably.

259 WINNER Barbe Groundbait A medium-coarse ground bait of brown colour for river fishing, with a high crysalis and parmesan cheese content. It contains an extremely high amount of browned oily cereals. With its excellent adhesion, this groundbait can be ballasted with gravel well, and easily carries scalded or even living maggots.

240 EXTRA Carp Groundbait A medium-coarse-ground, vanilla and toffee-flavoured bait of yellow colour, thus clashing from the water bed. Containing a lot of dehydrated breadcrumbs, it dissolves well in the water despite its excellent adhesion. It can carry a lot of living matter and ballast. It has a high parmesan cheese and crysalis content as well, which gives a peculiarity to its smell. It is recommended primarily for barbel fishing.

250 EXTRA River Groundbait A sweetish groundbait of special grain composition for use in rivers. It contains a lot of dehydrated breadcrumbs and a lot of red toast crumbs which swell up in the water. When humidified, its volume increases to more than the double of its original volume. It has a high parmesan cheese and crysalis content as well, which gives a peculiarity to its smell.

With its high adhering capacity, it can carry a lot of ballasting material. This makes it capable being used in intense streams.

252 EXTRA Roach Groundbait A fine-ground bait with Roach seasoning. Its taste is composed by a mix of coriander, annise, star annise, sweet fennel and five additional spices. When humidified properly, it distributes quickly and evenly on the water bed. It can be used efficiently in all seasons, from early spring to late autumn, for hair-moss and red-finned bream. It is a good idea to use in competitions when there are a lot of small-sized bleak in the water. It forms a cloud when used in more water, which makes it tan excellent bleak bait

Carp Fishing on the River Danube I always fish at the water inlet, more precisely, the flow division area, where the inlet water flow is divided in two directions. One direction is towards the bank, in front of the flagstones, and the other direction is towards the open water. It is always the first section of the water flow heading for the open water where I always fish for carp. In my experience, carp like these sections in a river. Inlet water brings food and it is not as quick yet as would carry the food away at once. In this way, carp residing in such areas can have access to food relatively easily, without particular efforts. For this reason, sometimes quite a lot of carp gather in such locations. I made the prow of my boat rest on the flagstones and fixed its side, too, to avoid it being pushed away by the water stream. To avoid the boat being damaged by waves generated by other boats passing by, I always place a motorbike tyre under the prow,

so it will not knock against the stones. The next task is to assess water depth and stream strength. With my 7-metre-Iong Bolognese rod, I measure a water depth of nearly 7 metres and the current is not so strong. I cut about one-and-a-half-centimetre piece off a 50-cm long lead bar, so the lead will weigh approx. 40 grams, which means it will rest firmly on the river bed but will not yet be too hard for the fish. An “ancient” plastic float will signal the catches. These floats are at least ten years old; they were ridiculously cheap at that time. Before getting the feedbait ready, I collected a small bucketful of egg-sized, irregularshaped stones, which will serve as “plum cores” in the bait. The bait I want to try is Extra Carp, a new carp groundbait of ours. It has been successful several times in still water, now I wonder what carp in the Danube will think of it, and whether it will bring as much success as the

Yellow Carp groundbait has. Extra Carp is a coarse-ground bait pastoncino-panettone odour, stuffed with delicatessen for carp, the full taste of which is provided merely by its ingredients. It can take up any added granular bait. All I add to it this time is maize because, in my experience, there is no more efficient carp bait on the Danube than this one. I have tried pellets and boilies several times but I could not catch any fish with either one. I do not want to draw any serious conclusions regarding the use of these baits on the Danube because it must have been my fault. I was not patient enough to wait for fish to come for them. While the feedbait was having a rest, I put together my fishing tackle, which consisted of a 7-metre-long SEVERE Bolognese rod, a 2500 DAIWA Certate reel and an 0.20 line. The hook I used was a size 6 gold OWNER. This is also experience: when using maize as hookbait, gold-coloured hooks bring about more catches than black ones. I put together a conventional tackle – this is the most sensitive one in such

deep water. I put the rod onto the engine and threw in 10 bait balls for basefeeding. I had put the stones collected into the middle of the balls to serve as ballasts. A stone placed inside the bait ball, like a plum core, makes it reach the river bed really quickly. The bait dissolves from the stone relatively quickly, and such stones do not disturb fish since the presence of stones is natural for them.

After feeding, I tidied up the boat and took out the landing net. Then I put two grains of maize on the hook and began fishing. Straight away, I was caught by surprise. I got a catch after the first cast, sooner than ten minutes after basefeeding. I quickly placed the 2-kilo river carp into the net then set it free straight away because I had left my camera somewhere in my stuff. I was really angry since I wasn't sure at all if I would come across another fish during the day. Nevertheless, I found the camera and placed it next to me. Then I cast in again, with maize on my hook. I saw on the water surface that there are fish down there, then, following a definite catch, I had to face significant resistance. I felt it wasn't a two-kilo player. After a short scrimmage, the fish made its way out to the river. By the time I stepped out of the boat and made my way towards the end of the flagstones, the fish had turned around and swum into an area with obstacles, tearing itself off. Meanwhile, a fellow angler had come out of somewhere in the forest and sat down at the end of the flagstones to fish for

catfish. We spoke a few words and I told him I had been beating the water all morning without results. He only answered that catfish were not hungry for leech but for mole-crickets nowadays. I told him since the guy that used to supply me with mole crickets was ordered to do public work I had been unable to get any.

After this discussion he cast in and by the time I had reapplied the tackle onto my rod, he had taken out his first catfish from where I had fished in the morning. Such a difference does a mole-cricket make! I had a new catch upon casting in for the second time. I felt this one was a big fish too, so I took things seriously. Loading my fishing tackle up to the maximum, I played the carp as hard as possible. I asked the fellow angler, who was just putting a second catfish onto the clamp, to take a photo of the fish. I put the fish into my keeping net to save it for a later photo of the day's prey, then went on fishing. I threw in a couple of bait balls and the next carp came before I could wash my hands. In spite of the fact that I could feel its size on its weight, this fish knocked under relatively soon.

When I took it out in my landing net, I saw the reason why. Because of an old injury, the fish looked as if it had been put together from two carp. By its front part, it could have weighed ten kilos but by its back part only five kilos.

Things Are Humming in Spring / Stolen Moments I can't control myself either in the springtime humming. All I think about night and day is where I could do some fishing, and, to be honest, I steel some hours from time to time for nothing else but watch the water a little.

This is how I did the other day; the morning found me at the bank of my favourite channel. The thing is, as I drive to the wholesaler every morning to buy goods, I always end up at my favourite channel.

Somehow it's always on my way although I have to take compass of about ten kilometres – sorry, I can't help the road leading there!

Spice Bream, hempseeds, mixture of yellow soil and clay

My feedbait

One early morning when I happened to be there, I saw that fish were very much on the move. So, the next day, a match rod, a kilo of my favourite groundbait for spring, a bag of well-clouding, yellow soil, as well as some hempseeds were hiding in the hood of my car. I decided to try my fortune. I threw in a few bait balls to the place in front of the reeds where I had seen some underwater moving the previous day and was looking forward to what was going to happen.

I didn't have to watch my float for too long. First I had to adjust the hook depth because my line had stuck in. As soon as I had shortened the line, the first fish knocked against my float. It was a great fishing session! During that one hour, I caught bream, round bream, hair-moss, red-finned bream, crucian, that is, all sorts of fish living in this water. However, hair-moss was the dominant species this time. Catching them was an exceptional experience.

And now I'll tell you why I'm sharing this with you besides wanting to tell you about my pleasure. The reason is to encourage you to stop to do some fishing any time, even for an hour or two, to get rid for a while of a city's noise in our accelerated world. If there is some water in your way, do not hesitate to spare a few hours for fishing.

Pellets in bucket CSL (Corn Steep Liquor) is the name of one of the most successful pellets of the West European carp anglers, and get more and more popular among the anglers who have a recipient mind. These pellets dissolve quickly in water and pull fish from distance to your swim. The CSL pellets exhale a strong aroma during dissolution. They can be used directly to feeding or boilie prefeeding, even put in a PVA bag.

During the early spring and the late autumn (in waters cooler than 15 °C) the strawberry or pineapple flavoured versions can be exceptionally effective, while in warmer waters the ‘great classical’ Frankfurter sausages version is a must. This catchy bait can be used az a hookbait. Being pre drilled it can be tied to the hook with a hair forming a hair-rig. They get softer in 2-4 hours (depending on the temperature of the water), but they keep their original shape. These pellets are sold in reclosable containers packed with free silicone rings.

Catfish Paste Our goal was to create a paste with special smell that attracts catfish and is not too stinking for humans, for those anglers who want to be more efficient in catfish angling. The paste is made with two different tastes. One of them is the fishmeal which comes from fish-oil. I think, it is well known among the anglers. The other one is made with some special leech (blood-sucker) extract. It was very time-consuming to find this additive, and finally I picked up the ’sent’ of the right extract in England among other boilie additives. The manufacturer is the same as the maker of my bloodworm pellet and bloodworm extract (the latter one is imported only for myself). As there are several different shellfish extracts (Belachan, Shrimp, etc.), so there is earthworm extract, bloodworm extract, etc., too.

This additive is contained in our new leech paste, which smells like mud, but also a bit spicy and lead to favourable results not only in catfish angling. Our both new pastes are very attractive for big carps in waters where those ugly small catfish are not presented.

Carp Paste The various forms of paste and other soft hookbaits has a long history in carp fishing.

Unfortunatelly the paste was forgotten in the last years bot now it is reborn. Sometimes in various places you can reach fantastic catches using this simple bait. The TOP MOX Paste has a vide range of applications, and can be used with nearly every fishing methods. For example, you can put it directly on the hook when carp is the target, and due to its weight you can throw the rig into the water without any additional weight. Such rigs usually make carp more confident. This is a really amusing sort of fishing. The carp paste is used not only by boilie anglers with hair rigs. T-REX CARPERIOR 1300 Competition rod A pole which features a realy elegant appearance with its pearl coloured butt section, and especially designed with big fish angling in mind. The relatively slim and flexible pole is equipped with an anti friction finish which helps its handling. The lower end of the very strong butt section is covered with rubber and strengthened with a special woven carbon layer. Due to this unique layer of rubber the surface of the butt section is sticky which helps holding the pole with hand. On those cold autumn and winter days the rubber layer may be felt a bit warmer – it is not a negligible consideration. The mini extension is made of woven carbon and covered with the special rubber layer. The pole sections are silver in colour except the first four ones.

The role of this surface treatment is to reflect the heat of sunshine. On one side the pole will not be so hot than the traditional black poles and do not burn our hands, and on the other side the colder pole keeps better its original properties (rigidity, etc.). The silver colour is also practical during an overnight fishing, because one can see it better than a black pole – the fishing can be more safe and more easy.
