Halloween is every child’s dream-one night to stay out late, dress up and have all the candy you want. Some people carry on this tradition until they have children of their own but this is not always the case at Cabrini College. “Your traditions change when your environment changes,” Kara Schneider, sophomore English and communication major, said. “I still try to dress u p every year, but it gets hard w h e n you’re away from home.” Many students try to continue their family traditions of going to an orchard to pick pumpkins and apples, carving pumpkins, going on a hayride and decorating their houses or dorm rooms. “My family used to pick and carve pumpkins every year and my mom would cook the pumpkin seeds,” Phil Nicolo, senior sociology and criminal justice major, said. Younger siblings always help college students keep up their old traditions. Corinne Szymczak, junior English secondary education major, takes her little sister out trick-or-treating every year.
