Mover Checklist—After the Move

The movers in Murrieta have just left and you are now ready to start unpacking and putting stuff away in your new home. Once you have accomplished these tasks there are other things that may need to be done. Before you signed on the dotted line making the home yours you probably had a full home inspection done but there were probably things that you saw that were outdated or that you wanted to change to make the home feel more like yours. If the home you just bought is not a fixer-upper many of the things that you want to do are generally inexpensive tasks. Some of the things that you might want to do after the movers in Marietta have left can include: • Landscaping—yes, this can be an expensive project but also one that can be do a little at a time making it more affordable. If there are already trees and shrubs on your property check to see if they need to be trimmed. You may also need to mow the lawn and do some weeding in order to make it more attractive. Some homeowners like to make a flower garden around the base of their trees or plant some shrubs in front of their home. • Painting the walls—the colors of the walls may not be the colors you prefer so this is something that can be done on weekends one room at a time. • Replacing the carpet—this can be expensive and some homeowners will prefer to do this also a room at a time or just have a professional carpet cleaning service clean the carpet before moving day. It may be better if it is done after everything has been moved in to help prevent the carpet from getting dirty again from all the foot traffic moving in items. • Replacing crack or broken linoleum in the bathroom and kitchen—this is also another weekend project. If you want to have the appearance of wooden flooring there are tiles that you can purchase to accomplish this. In the bathroom, it is important that this be replaced as soon as possible to help prevent water damage on the floor. Once the moving companies Marietta have left and you have unpacked it is time to get rid of all the boxes and packing material. Instead of throwing the boxes in the trash find a place where they can be recycled. You should also take the time to wash the cabinets inside and put down shelf paper to put your dishes and cooking utensils on. To add your own style to the cabinets you can change the hardware. By doing these little things will soon make your new home feel like it is yours.
