Starting a Commercial Window Cleaning Service Commercial window cleaning generally involves washing windows of businesses such as office buildings, restaurants, and more. It can involve cleaning the inside, outside, or both. If you are considering starting your own business doing commercial window cleaning make sure that you do your research for any regulations that apply to having a small business. You want to make sure that you are registered with any relevant offices and have all the appropriate licenses and insurance. When you start your window cleaning business there is very little supplies you will need. It is advisable to start with clients that only have ground level windows because ones that have two or more stories will require that you either have scaffolding to ladders to reach the windows. As your business grown you can expand to accept clients with more than one story windows. The tools that you will need include squeegees, window cleaning products, buckets, and paper towels or cleaning cloths. On the business side, you should have business cards to pass out to prospective customers, a bookkeeping system to keep track of expenses, money received from clients, invoices, etc. You want to be able to print receipts and contracts. Since you will be meeting your clients where the job will be done you can work from home, saving the cost of having an office. Starting out you should only take on a few clients so you can do the job yourself and as the business grows you can hire employees to help do the work. Customers should be the primary concern when starting a commercial window cleaning company so you need to take the time to visit different businesses and restaurants promoting your business. For new customers you could offer a special of say three months of service for the price of two months to get new customers to try your services, even if they already have a commercial window cleaning company to do their windows. If you do not have customers you will not have a business or one that is making a profit. In the beginning profits may not be that high and at some point you may just be breaking even but as long as your new company is not seeing a loss every month. In addition to advertising using business cards, if you have a van, which may be necessary to carry your equipment, you could vinyl advertising signs. You could also advertise in the news paper, start a web page. As long as you are advertising your business and talking to potential customers you should be able to get your commercial window cleaning business up and running. It is not something that is going to happen overnight but will probably take several months. This article is penned by Lora Davis for QCS Building Services.
