We are now able to offer a quality experience in terms of the resources that we have and the wonderful awards that we can present to those cadets who have shown dedicated commitment and service in leading the other cadets. The Contingent Banners give us something we can be really proud of and set a high standard for the cadets to live up to. Our enormous gratitude goes to all those who have donated to making the Cadet Force so special. Alex Hamilton, Head of CCF
Fundraising Income 2020/21 To date we have raised almost £590,000 this academic year. This is quite incredible considering the circumstances everyone is in. We should not be surprised though - the LWC Community is a generous one. Our culture of philanthropy amongst Sternians, parents, staff, governors and other friends is growing each year and we are so grateful for your commitment to LWC – whether for the Foundation, the Covid-19 Appeal or our Aspirations campaign. We still have a month or so to go and it would be incredible if we could exceed £600,000 by the end of August - what an achievement that would be!

Aspirations Aspirations is our umbrella campaign for projects across the College that we aspire to move forwards with but need to fundraise for to make them a reality. Following the success of the CCF Ceremonial Appeal, our key projects currently are the Performing Arts Project, to refurbish the theatre in the Music and Drama Centre, and the equipping of the new Science Centre. Other projects, large and small, will be added over time, so there should be an opportunity to fund something that is important to you.
We are delighted to have raised almost £140,000 towards the theatre refurbishment. A huge thank you to everyone who has supported this project so far. We are transforming this space and can’t wait to invite donors towards this project in for the official opening next term!

Charitable Trusts & Foundations Many charitable trusts support LWC. They lie at the heart of the Foundation and continue the spirit of giving which was established by our Founder over a century ago. Some offer funds whilst others give advice or refer children to LWC. All are truly invaluable to ensuring the Foundation continues to flourish. Here is a glimpse of some of our partners:

supporting the children of service personnel whatever their service or current geographic location, whose education has been disadvantaged by their parent’s service. Over the last five years, grants in excess of £1million have been awarded to support children of all three services, from both serving and retired parents. Most service children are happy, resilient and successful, and thrive on the opportunities that service life brings. Others, however, can be disadvantaged by a lack of stability in their education and by some of the challenges relating to service life. For these young people, the Trust can assist with education-related fees that parents would not otherwise be able to afford. This can help young people over particular hurdles that are preventing them from achieving their educational potential. The Trust is delighted to be able work with the Lord Wandsworth Foundation, along with other charities, to support these children for whom boarding at a school like LWC will make all the difference.
Our family will remain eternally grateful for all the support we have received from the Armed Forces Education Trust. Single mother serving in the RAF
The NFL Trust was formed in 2005 from the assets raised by the sale of the site of North Foreland Lodge School; a former girls’ boarding school located in Hampshire. By 2006, these assets had been transferred into a charitable trust that had been established with the object of promoting the education of girls aged 11-18 attending fee paying schools in the UK. The Trust’s first six bursaries were awarded in academic year 2006/07. The following year saw the first award of an NFL bursary to a Foundationer at Lord Wandsworth College. LWC’s Development Office and Admissions team identify possible bursary candidates, and then support families with their applications to the Trust. The Trust currently supports 60 girls, six of whom are at LWC from First Form to Upper Sixth (except for Third Form). The annual cost of supporting these LWC pupils is currently just under £30,000 a year, which equates to approximately 11% of the Trust’s total charitable expenditure. The Trust’s policy is to assist each girl whom they support to achieve her full potential. They are not able to offer 100% support and they encourage both the school and the pupil’s family to become stakeholders on the girl’s education. Once a bursary has been awarded by the Trustees, it is almost certain to remain with the girl for the remainder of her time at her school.

These trusts work in partnership with us supporting/referring pupils
This year we have received funding of over £250,000 towards school fees and extras from 26 trusts, as well as invaluable pastoral support, training, referrals and analysis from many more. On behalf of the whole LWC Community – pupils, parents, carers, staff and governors - a heartfelt thank you to all of these organisations who help to ensure our Foundationers can attend LWC and reach their potential.

Donor Clubs Thank you to all our donor club members for your continued generosity and unwavering support of The Foundation, The Covid-19 Appeal, various College projects and our newly launched Aspirations campaign. We were delighted to launch our third donor club, The Cedrus Club, last term in recognition of those donors whose lifetime contributions have reached £5,000 or more with Gold membership for gifts totaling £50,000 or more. Virtual events for donors were held in November 2020 and January 2021 and it was wonderful to see so many of you on screen. We hope you enjoyed your bespoke biscuits and updates from the Headmaster and Sam Corfield. We are very much looking forward to the prospect of hosting you in person at the college when restrictions are eased further. Thank you to each and every one of you for your kindness and the important part you all play in ensuring our pupils continue to thrive and prosper here at LWC.
