Canada’s Farm Progress Show
Welcome to the 37th annual Canada’s Farm Progress Show presented by Viterra! We are proud to host what has become the industry’s leading agricultural showcase. Over the years, we have grown from being a local event to being recognized as Canada’s largest tradeshow. Saskatchewan Tourism has dubbed us “the Event of the Year!” We’re proud to offer attendees an almost unparalleled opportunity to see the latest and greatest trends in agricultural production. Don’t think because you’ve been to Canada’s Farm Progress show before that you’ve seen it all. We work hard to ensure our programming keeps pace with the latest innovations and the emerging needs of the industry. While the main purpose of the show is as a showcase for agriculture companies, it also serves as an educational opportunity where people from both inside and outside the industry can come to learn about the modern world of agriculture. Over 45,000 attendees will visit more than 900 exhibitors spread across 1.9 million square feet of show space. An increasingly important part of our show is the International Business Centre where we welcome representatives from around the world. In past years, we have been proud to host over 800 international guests representing over 57 countries. As a result of this program, the Farm Progress show is widely recognized as a major event for fostering international business relationships. We also want to welcome everyone to our many featured programs, such as the FCC Innovations Showcase, the New Product Launches, Livestock Centre, Antique Truck and Tractor Display and the Conexus Modern Lifestyle pavilion. We invite you to visit our webpage, Facebook page or follow us on twitter to see what’s being showcased this year. Once again, welcome to the show. We are sure you will find it rewarding in many ways.

Viterra
As Canada’s grain industry leader, Viterra is focused on making industry and community investments that benefit its customers. Its title sponsorship of Canada’s Farm Progress Show is a natural fit, and showcases the similarities between both organizations. “We’re proud of our longstanding relationship with the Farm Progress Show,” says Kyle Jeworski, Viterra’s President and CEO for North America. “We share a commitment to innovation and leadership, and firmly believe that success in agriculture relies on providing creative tools, solutions and learning opportunities for our customers. This is what makes us a partner of choice in our industry, and makes the Farm Progress Show one of the most successful shows of its kind in North America.” This emphasis on learning and knowledge sharing makes Viterra’s grain specialists well equipped to provide timely market intelligence and insights into global trends. “Our employees are constantly improving their skills so that they can provide the advice and direction to help farmers find the right contracts and the right markets for their quality products,” says Jeworski. “We continuously invest in their training to ensure their level of expertise is what our customers expect from us.” Viterra also supports industry organizations in delivering training and learning opportunities to farmers and destination customers. Recently, Viterra announced a $1 million funding partnership with the Canadian International Grains Institute (Cigi) to support its ongoing efforts to promote Canadian field crops to customers in domestic and international markets. The investment will support Cigi’s ability to deliver customized training programs and technical expertise to farmers and end users, and enhance Canada’s position as a reliable supplier of safe and high quality grains, oilseeds and pulses. Further, the company has made significant investments into research to support the development of crop varieties with enhanced yield and agronomic improvements. Last November, Viterra made a $2 million contribution to the Global Institute for Food Security to support the Institute’s mission in addressing the increasing global demand for safe, reliable food. In January, the company announced a $5 million investment in the Crop Development Centre (CDC) at the University of Saskatchewan to enhance the CDC’s success in wheat research and breeding. “We view these types of investments into research as critical in making our industry sustainable and ready to continue meeting food challenges around the world,” says Jeworski. “The fundamentals in agriculture point to continued long term demand for the crops our farmers grow, and we are determined to help them seize opportunities and support their success.” In addition to these industry investments, Viterra also contributed $1.4 million in 2013 to several worthwhile community causes and events such as the Canadian Foodgrains Bank, the United Way and the Scotties Tournament of Hearts in Tisdale. The company plans to continue making meaningful contributions, supporting communities in Western Canada and enhancing its reputation as a good corporate citizen. Ongoing infrastructure investments are another key part to Viterra building on its leadership position. Through targeted investments in its asset network, the company is ensuring it is able to provide the highest level of service possible to its customers. Most recently, Viterra disclosed that it is executing on a series of operational improvements and upgrades at its Pacific Terminal at Port Metro Vancouver. With an overall investment of $100 million, the project is aimed at modernizing the terminal with enhancements that will increase shipping throughput and capacity, as well as improve current handling and processing procedures. Viterra has also revealed plans around its intent to build a high throughput grain elevator in Kindersley, SK, with a storage capacity of 34,000 metrics tonnes and a 108 railcar spot. This follows a similar announcement around a new terminal build in Grimshaw, AB, the purchase of a high throughput elevator in Lethbridge, AB, along with upgrades and expansions at numerous other facilities in Viterra’s asset network. “Our ongoing focus on operational excellence allows us to provide our customers with the best marketing opportunities domestically and around the world,” says Jeworski. “We encourage customers to visit our booth during the Farm Progress Show and see what Viterra has to offer.”
Viterra’s vast asset network and knowledgeable experts deliver a quality experience you can rely on. The Viterra team is ready to work with you to optimize your grain marketing plans. Ryan and Leanne Thompson
Living Sky Beef Biography
Ryan and Leanne live between Ceylon and Minton, in southern Saskatchewan where they operate Living Sky Beef Inc. Ryan grew up in the beef industry being raised on a mixed farm near Carnduff, SK while Leanne was raised on a grain farm at Hearne, SK. The two met when they both attended the University of Saskatchewan, graduating with Degrees in Agriculture. Both carried on at the U of S completing MSc. Degrees in the area of Animal Science. Following University, Ryan and Leanne moved to Lethbridge, AB in 2002 where Ryan worked as a feedlot consultant for Cargill Animal Nutrition and Leanne worked at Agriculture Canada as a research assistant. Yearning to get back to Saskatchewan, the pair moved to Ceylon when the opportunity arose for Ryan to manage Border Line Feeders, a 7,000 head feedlot that was just beginning operation in 2005. During his 6 years managing the feedlot, it grew to a 12,000 head, very successful facility and was nominated for ABEX awards in six consecutive years, winning the ABEX for investment in 2006 and the award for Community Involvement in 2010. During this time, Leanne began working as a consultant, managing projects and doing communications work for a variety of Agricultural organizations including the Saskatchewan Forage Council. In addition to their day jobs, Ryan and Leanne began feeding cattle in 2008. In 2010, they purchased land near Minton, SK and in 2011 Ryan left his job at the feedlot to manage their own business – Living Sky Beef. This operation incorporates beef and forage management and includes cow/calf, backgrounding, and finishing of cattle as the market dictates.

Saskatchewan’s Outstanding Young Farmer’s Program
Saskatchewan’s Outstanding Young Farmer’s Program (OYF) is designed to recognize young farmers in the province who exemplify excellence in their profession. During the Farm Progress Show, one of the nominees will be announced as the 2014 winner. The 2014 winner will be joining the six other National finalists from across Canada to compete for the Canada’s Outstanding Young Farmers title in Quebec City, Quebec this November. The 2014 Nominees are: Aaron & Adrienne Ivey, and Ryan & Leanne Thompson.
Ryan and Leanne both strongly believe that producers need to be involved in the direction and policy development that shapes their industry. More than just a belief, Ryan has demonstrated his dedication to the beef industry through involvement in various boards and initiatives including, director for the Saskatchewan Cattle Feeders Association (SCFA), director for the Saskatchewan Cattlemen’s Association (SCA), SK director for National Cattle Feeders Association, advisory committee for the University of Saskatchewan’s Beef Cattle Research and Teaching Unit and member of the Youth Economic Engagement Council of Enterprise Saskatchewan. Leanne’s work with agricultural organizations have seen her involved in a number of committees and boards as well including Saskatchewan Beef & Forage Symposium, Saskatchewan Pasture School, Saskatchewan Beef Industry Conference, Native Prairie Reclamation Restoration Workshop, Canadian Forage and Grassland Association board member, SK Advisory Council on Forage Crops and Western Canadian Feedlot Management School. Leanne and Ryan welcomed Samuel into their family in 2010 and Rachel in 2013. They look forward to raising their children in rural Saskatchewan, teaching them the importance of community involvement and the role of stewardship in Agriculture. Samuel is already showing an interest in the beef industry as he rarely passes up an opportunity to help check cows or ride in the tractor!

Aaron and Adrienne Ivey
GREAT SELECTION G OF PRE-OWNED SPRAYERS & WINDROWERS
Biography
Aaron and Adrienne Ivey are passionate about the future of agriculture. Along with their children Noelle, age 8, and Colton, age 6, they own and operate a mixed cattle and grain farm near Ituna, Sk in partnership with Aaron’s parents, Robert and Karen Ivey.
SPRAYERS 2012 JD 4940
Aaron and Adrienne purchased their first land in 2000. They moved back to the farm shortly after completion of their agriculture degrees. Aaron farmed full time, while Adrienne worked in the ag industry, managing a small outlet of a local independent ag retailer. After having their daughter, Noelle, in 2006, Adrienne worked as a sales rep for the forage and canola seed company, BrettYoung. After the arrival of their son, Colton, Adrienne began transitioning to working part time, first in BrettYoung’s marketing department, then as a Financial Solutions Manager for Blair’s Fertilizer. In 2013 they saw the growing needs of their family and farm and made the decision for Adrienne to use her professional experience to continue to grow their operation on a full time basis.

For the past 15 years Aaron and Adrienne focused on growing their family, building their cow herd, expanding their land base, and restructuring their operation. They now look to the future and focus on ways to improve their production and business bottom line. Variety trials, stockpile grazing demos, plant growth promoter side-by-sides and, most recently, a genomic trial are all ways they look to examine their current and research future practices. Bale grazing, extended weaning, sod seeding and genetic selection have all been areas of innovation and change.

While on-farm research is important, they strive to improve ag research on a provincial level as well. Aaron has been involved in a number of steering committees and projects to bring government and producer group funding and focus back to research for both beef and forage. As they look to the future, Aaron and Adrienne are optimistic about continued opportunities in primary agriculture and are focused on continuing down the path they are on.

International Business Centre presented by HSBC
Visitors will find the International Business Center (IBC) presented by HSBC in the Cooperators Center- upper level; this location allows a view of prime exhibit space of the show. The IBC is a truly unique driver at Canada’s Farm Progress Show and is designed to introduce international visitors to those exhibitors that export equipment and technology. This exclusive program sets Canada’s Farm Progress Show apart from other shows of its kind. In 2013, the IBC welcomed over 800 international delegates from 57 countries. As the focus on global business continues to grow, the speed and complexity of international business communications flourishes as well. Interactions with foreign buyers that were once nearly impossible to bring about have become routine. The IBC takes full advantage of the opportunity to bring buyers and exporters together in one marketplace, providing tremendous value. The IBC provides a complete business service package to all international visitors, including assistance with hotel reservations, shuttle service to the show and airport, private meeting rooms and comprehensive business services. Professional staff is on site daily to facilitate introductions and meetings between buyers, trade delegations and export members. This year we will again be offering Business 2 Business meetings between export members and international visitors.
Testimonials — What Our Clients Are Saying
“
The IBC is a collective effort of the Government of Canada and Saskatchewan Provincial Government. The IBC also has support from Saskatchewan Ministry of Agriculture, Saskatchewan Ministry of the Economy, Saskatchewan Trade and Export Partnership (STEP) and Manitoba Trade and Investment.
“
We were very impressed with the show overall but blown away with the International Buyers Program and the way we were treated and made welcome, from reception to the shuttle bus to our hotel, all was run professionally. It was a great experience for us.”
Paul Arundel & Howard Dawson, Australia
The Farm Progress show is the only venue I have been to where as a buyer you are able to meet real producers. It is an excellent cross section of Sask/Canadian agribusiness players. Attracting the most innovative technology focused companies while at the same time remaining approachable for small to mid-size family farmers.”
“
Nicole Roger, UAE
The way Canada’s Farm Progress Show helped us was an experience that we will never forget. Hospitality is highly appreciated.”
Christo Visser, South Africa

CANADA’S FARM PROGRESS SHOW at a glance...
June 18 - 20, 2014 Evraz Place, Regina, SK, Canada
URBAN SHOWSHOW GUIDEGUIDE CFPS URBAN www.myfarmshow.com Canada’s Farm Progress Show
Saskatchewan born W. Brett Wilson cherishes his prairie roots imagination at work “I have some pretty fond memories from our family cabin out in Meota, Saskatchewan. The prairie storms, the summer winds, the quiet, all hold a big place in my heart,” explained Wilson. “By the time I was in grade 10 I was working on farms hauling bales and doing farm jobs. I rather enjoyed that experience.” Wilson is most publicly recognized for his three seasons on the hit show Dragon’s Den. Although he chose to leave the show in 2011, he still supports the deals he made to this day. Many of his most successful partners were from Saskatchewan.
ScotiaMcLeod or Scotia Capital).
From there Wilson continued to flourish in the banking industry. After founding a couple of advisory firms, including a fairly large project with Rick Grafton, Jim Davidson and Murray Edwards, Wilson now invests in the energy, agriculture, real estate, sports, and entertainment industries through his primary holding company, Prairie Merchant Corporation. Not only will Wilson’s speech at the Farm Progress show touch upon his successful investment background, it will also encompass the great opportunities that came about with the change in farm ownership regulations within Saskatchewan.“
“The fact is that virtually all of my Saskatchewan based investments are still working, and I can’t say that for most of my investments,” he confirmed. “The The main topic will be how relevant marketing, truth is, I fully expected two thirds of them to be gone entrepreneurship and philanthropy are still after three years. I wasn’t a farm kid growing up; I was just a small town kid.” What many may not know is that Wilson has quite the extensive education as well. Graduating from the For those who may not know Wilson through University of Saskatchewan with a Bachelor of Science Dragon’s Den or his corporation, he is also the proud in Civil Engineering, Wilson worked for Imperial Oil for co-owner of Derby County FC and the NHL’s Nashville three years. Following his time with Imperial, he then graduated from the University of Calgary with an MBA program in entrepreneurship and began work as an investment banker with McLeod Young Weir Limited (now
“I don’t really have a time where I am completely disengaged from work. If I had to choose something relaxing however, it would be watching my sports teams get involved, but others might say that is work.

For W. Brett Wilson growing up in the prairies has never been considered hindering in any way.
I spend a lot of time on airplanes and traveling, I enjoy that as my down time,” he concluded. “I try to take a good chunk of my summer off to go golfing and to go to the lake in British Columbia, but then too I take my work with me. My family tends to travel and come visit me wherever I am, but I still visit Saskatchewan four to five times a year.” For more information on W. Innovations Intro The word Innovation is described under Wikipedia as “the application of better solutions that meet new requirements, unarticulated needs, or existing market needs”. It is thru Innovation that we see improvements, modernization and ultimately profitability in agriculture production. Canada’s Farm Progress Show – Presented by Viterra is unsurpassed as the place to showcase all the Innovations, new products and product launches that our agricultural
companies and dealers have to offer. This year under the Innovation umbrella, 4 distinct categories have been added. There are; “New Equipment Innovation”, “New Service Innovation”, “New Product”, and “New Mobile Device Application Software”. Companies, who have entered their Innovation, were qualified by the Canada Farm Progress Show Innovations committee. Innovations that were qualified were then critiqued by a panel of
judges. Products and services that were ranked the highest, will either receive a Gold Standard Award or Sterling Standard Award. To learn more about the program and the Innovations, please visit the Innovations display located in the Agribition Building – Building 9. Please refer to the map within this guide to view the locations of these companies and inventors at our show.

Gavin Betker 38 Riverby Lane Narol, MB R1C 0A9 T: 204-275 E: gavin.betker@backswath.com Agribition Building - 93016 Financial Management Software When it comes to analyzing financial performance, a forecast is superior to a projection (the analytical approach most typically used by farmers) because it is objectively based on real-life events that have actually happened, instead of the typically optimistic projections other financial software programs make. Starting with the most recent balance sheet, and using income statements averaged over the past 5 years, the EAGLE Program objectively forecasts what a farm’s financial picture will look like in the future. Essentially, the EAGLE Program is saying, ‘if the past 5 years were to happen again, this is what your farm’s financial picture would look like’. Once the historical performance and forecasted baseline performance is established, farm owners and managers can use the EAGLE Program to analyze different scenarios (changes in operations, capital and financing). Scenarios, developed using partial budget theory, can be compared to each other and against financial targets. Farm owners and managers can use the scenarios to determine what course of action would most likely yield the best financial results. Innovatively advancing farm business management, Backswath provides leading-edge management consulting services, tools, and resources to farms and agribusinesses.

New Mobile Device Application Software List Brennan Turner 1233 13th Street E Saskatoon, SK S7H 0C3 T: 855-332-7653 E: b.turner@farmlead.com Agrbition Building - 93046 FarmLead Mobile FarmLead, based in Saskatoon, SK, is North America’s first online and now mobile physical cash grain marketplace where grain producers, buyers, brokers, and end-users can anonymously list, track, negotiate, & connect to complete a transaction. FarmLead was founded by Brennan Turner, who is originally from Foam Lake, SK and played hockey for the Notre Dame Hounds & at Yale University where he got his degree in Economics. FarmLead users can create their free accounts and expose their grain trade deals (and not their farm or agribusiness) so that the terms of the trade are the focus of any deal. Further, FarmLead is not the broker! Rather, buyers and sellers can negotiate on the terms of trade directly with one another over the FarmLead.com website or the innovative and free FarmLead Mobile app for iOS and Android devices. Posting deals and making counteroffers on the FarmLead Marketplace automatically maximizes a grain seller or buyers’ chances of getting a deal done. By putting their deal in front of more potential counterparties, there are more options to work with. Further, FarmLead does quarterly credit checks on all registered buyers and allows sellers to upload photos or documents certifying the quality of the grain they’re selling. Just as
the pillar of the FarmLead model is transparency, users should provide as much information in their postings as it tells potential counterparties exactly what’s on the table. FarmLead only changes a flat “Connection Fee” of $40$100 (depending on the grain) to both buyer and seller if they agree to a deal, regardless of the size of the deal.

With our product, farmers are able to extend narrow fenders to protect from mud damage when using wide tires and then quickly switch back to narrow fender coverage when the using narrow tires for in-crop spraying. Reduced
cleaning time when using wide tires is an advantage in reducing field to field soil transfer, a key strategy in reducing the spread of clubroot disease in Canola. FenderXtenders are cheaper and much faster to change than two sets of fenders. The idea for FenderXtenders came from Eric Gray, a farmer and custom spray operator at Indian Head Saskatchewan, when looking for additional mud protection for his sprayer. Being unable to find a suitable product in the marketplace, he went into business and created FendX Ltd. with his father, to design and manufacture this needed product in Saskatchewan. FenderXtenders for Case and John Deere sprayers are currently being field tested this spring with the product launch at the 2014 Farm Progress Show.
