The Yale New Haven Hospital Auxiliary hosted its Looking Forward Fashion Show on June 5.
In addition to being an event sponsor, Lori’s was represented by several team members from area gift shops who attended the fundraiser. Nearly 500 people gathered at Anthony’s Ocean View in New Haven for the event, which raised over $25,000 in support of the Looking Forward Program.
Part of the Yale New Haven Hospital Auxiliary, the program directly funds services that help cancer patients cope with the many issues related to their treatment. Through the Integrative Medicine Dept., patients are supported during their treatment with programs including energy balancing, yoga, massage therapy, guided imagery, medical Pilates, holistic nutrition, and emotional support services at Smilow Cancer Center.
The models are cancer survivors, patients undergoing treatment, and oncology doctors and nurses. Lori’s Hospital Partner, Hymie Glick, president-elect of the Yale New Haven Hospital Auxiliary, is a five year prostate cancer survivor. Hymie walked in honor of his father Bernie who died of pancreatic cancer, and his sister Amy, a breast cancer/lymphoma survivor.
Lori’s Northern Regional District Manager, Jessica Brunelle, expressed how moved she was by the event, saying, “It was truly an honor to be at the event, to hear such amazing stories of strength, courage and hope. These models looked amazing but their beauty shined more from the stories they told of the relationships they formed with Yale and the Smilow Center program throughout their recovery journey. The night was full of smiles, as well as laughter through tears.”

Cristy Stanley has over 30 years experience in retail working with Hallmark, Yankee Candle, Things Remembered, and Kirkland’s, with over 25 years experience as a District Manager. Recruited through LinkedIn, Cristy went to secret shop at Lori’s in local hospitals, but was turned away due to strict COVID policies. She said, “I basically accepted a position with Lori’s without having any personal experience. I had done my research online and knew Lori’s would be my home away from home.”

HAPPY ANNIVERSARY, Lori’s team members!
Thank you for your years of valued service.
Cristy is rewarded by being part of her hospital families. She said, “I know many of our hospital team members by name, and it is like seeing a dear friend when we run into each other.” She also appreciates being able to hire, train, and develop strong teams, saying, “It takes time to find the right candidates, but once you do, and they are trained, they are simply amazing!!! They care so much for the visitors, patients, and hospital teams.” Cristy is rewarded by gathering feedback on what Lori’s is doing well and what we could do better so the gift shops continue to be the heart of the hospital.
In her spare time, Cristy enjoys time with family and friends, and cooking and baking. She is in the process of writing a cookbook that includes family favorites, like her chocolate covered peanut butter fudge, which took three months to perfect.

Lori’s Gifts is thrilled to announce our new “Make Your Mark” Award recipient!
Congratulations to Linda Dayton, our Store #56 Manager at Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
Linda has been nominated more than once by her peers and District Manager to win the prestigious award. Below are quotes from her peers in her District that illustrate why Linda is so deserving: “ Linda naturally interacts with the children and their parents, putting everyone at ease. They can forget their troubles while they are in Linda’s store.”
Linda is a role model and a source of guidance, advice, and support for every leader in the Pittsburgh market. Linda embodies the true spirit of light and love.
“Linda’s love for her team, store, and customers shines through in everything she does. I cannot think of a more deserving recipient of this award.”
Linda goes above and beyond to make sure the gift shop has what is needed to be successful! People wonder how we can handle working with all the sick kiddos, but Linda always says, ‘Our store is the Happy Place of the Hospital!’ Linda is just so amazingly awesome! She treats everyone like family.”
Recipients of the Make Your Mark Award receive the glass heart trophy, company recognition, two extra PTO days, a local hotel stay, dinner, and more. Thank you for your service and compassion, Linda!
