Market Street Mart Building New Store

In 1986 Larry Kleve was approached by our bank in Brighton to do a receivership of the Keenesburg Convenience store which was in foreclosure. Larry agreed and operated it for the bank for approximately a year. After a year of growing the business we purchased the convenience store from the bank and named it Market Street Mart. It was our second convenience store as we had purchased the Barn Store of Hudson in 1982. We kept all of the original employees and up to 2019

Dorothy Mullison was still an employee of Market Street Mart until her illness.

We owned several other businesses in surrounding communities and after purchasing a house at 115 N Market and renting it for a few years we decided to tear down the house and built the Keenesburg Car Wash in 2006.

We have been part of the community since 1986 and have seen a lot of change.....Citizens State Bank to Colorado East Bank and Trust.....to the current TBK Bank and Trust. Small businesses have come and gone and many are still active like Ries Electric. We attempted to be a part of the community and supported the schools and chamber as well as the SE Weld County Fair and Rodeo.

Around 2016 Larry began to transition to semi retirement and our son Ryan took over the daily operations. Larry continued as consultant and Sue with financial administration.

Before Larry passed in 2019 there was discussion of building a new store and Ryan and Sue moved forward with plans to complete the dream.

The new Market Street Mart will be a concept store with a Beer Barn, a dog park and a vehicle charging station. We will continue to serve and support the Keenesburg area as well as offer services to the traveling highway customers.

Public Health Officials Recommend Flu Vaccines

WELD COUNTY, CO —Health officials recommend residents get their annual influenza (also known as the flu) vaccination. Flu symptoms can start suddenly and may include fever, cough, sore throat, runny nose, body aches, or fatigue. Serious cases of the flu can require hospitalization and may lead to death in high-risk individuals.

The current flu season officially begins in October and ends in May 2021. September and October are good times to get a flu vaccine. Currently, the Health Department has plenty of flu vaccines available for both children and adults. No resident will be denied a flu vaccine due to an inability to pay. Walk-ins accepted, but appointments are preferred at both the main office in Greeley, and the satellite clinic in Longmont. The Health Department also accepts some insurance plans. Other locations for flu vaccinations include pharmacies and doctor’s offices throughout Weld County.

The Health Department recommends a yearly flu vaccine for everyone 6 months of age and older as the first and most important step in protecting against this serious disease. While there are many different flu virus strains, the flu vaccine is designed to protect against the main strains that research indicates will cause the most illness during the flu season.

Public Health officials further recommends people always cover their coughs, wash their hands, and if people get sick with the flu, to stay home from work or school to prevent spreading the illness to others.
