MASSLOS by –los magazine

The masslos appears to occupy a preeminent position in the production and construction of modern societies, influencing the social order and fueling its constant development. It is the dual feeling of compelling and abusing, discovering and destroying.

maĂ&#x;los

Within the #2 issue there are three directions in which the masslos theme is approached. They are influencing and intersecting each other, yet wishing to be individual, having a life of their own. The consumerism reflected in the army of supermarket trolleys exposing their postconsumption self in the human act of temporary possession. The economics played with its own words, searching for wider human meaning and reinterpretation. Finally, the excessiveness of nature, its beauty and universal role as adored and abused posture, unveiling its massiveness towards a single human being, as well as disappearing under the sea of litter produced by the masses. And hence - masslos - is it necessary for the human dualism of happiness and misfortune? The main objective of the last report of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change is to limit the rise of temperatures to 1.5 degrees centigrade from its pre-industrial level. The morning after the party has arrived. 6

CHANGUITOS

changuitos

by Florencia Giudici

These are, changuitos, shopping trolleys, Einkaufswagen. Practical things, above all, that border modern ideals. Specific objects, in function and place, that were exiled, that compulsorily migrated after the need of some temporary users. And never came back. Today they wander, they show themselves, they hide, they become one with the city, camouflaging, ganging up, waiting until they find a new place, a new function or a new user to satisfy.

WATCHERS

watchers

by Alexandra Polyakova

The project “Watchers” developed from traveling through Bolivia, Chile, Kirgizstan and Switzerland and observation of those striking landscapes. The vastness of the landscapes is overwhelming next to inconspicuous human figure. The silhouettes’ shift in scale gives a completely new dimension to the landscape.
