The current fashion industry has an immense lack of diversity in it. A big part of this is the insufficiency of plus sized models on the runway and in campaign, this reflects onto the shop floor and; also, into e-commerce stores where the option of plus sized or curvier clothes are either limited or not an option. The industry faces the risk of being stigmatized for not being inclusive for people who are plus-sized or curvy. The industry could make both plus-size and curvy women feel appreciated and not

excluded for their size by promoting plus size models and collections on the runway and in company campaigns. They can also create a more inclusive industry by producing a wide variety of plus sized clothing that accommodate for women of all shapes and sizes. ‘Brands who sell up to size 28, only sell fashionable clothes up to size 24. Anything beyond a size 24 isn’t fashionable, nor a worthy rival in the style stakes to anything you’d find marked as size 8.’ (OP-ED: Why the Fashion Industry Is Failing “Plus-Size” Consumers – Fashion

industry and these women 09 17as 25 it initiates more representation for plus-size women. This will also be beneficial for the brands as it creates a more inclusive and diverse image for the brand which will therefore generate a larger audience and customer base.

‘Plus-size women represent over 60 percent of fashion retail customers in the UK, yet many plus-size women are not able to walk into a shop and browse clothes.’ (OP-ED: Why The Fashion Industry Is Failing “Plus-Size Consumers – Fashion Roundtable, 2021) I hope that the Industry becomes inclusive for all body shapes and sizes, I hope that women will be able to walk into any shop or visit any ecommerce store and choose anything they find fashionable and be able to buy it in their size easily. I also hope this can happen for a fair and reasonable price. “Plus-sized women shouldn’t think of themselves as a size. They should think of themselves as women with rich goals in life.
