Meet our Boarding Staff
IhavebeenatLGSfor20years,initiallyasaHistoryteacher,then HeadofHistoryandnowmymainroleisHousemasterofDenton House,lookingafter32boardersbetweenYears9-13.
Ihavebeeninvolvedwithboardingthroughoutmytimeatthe Schooland,overtheyears,ithasbeenarealprivilegetogettoknow somanyboysfromallaroundtheworld.Beinginvolvedinboarding issorewardingbecauseyougettoseethewholepictureofthelifeof apupil,fromtheiracademicprogresstotheirsporting,musicand dramaachievements,andalsotosupportboyswiththeiremotional development.Itisarealhonourtoseetheprogressionofour boardersfromyoungboyswhentheyjoinLGSatthestartoftheir academicjourneytoyoungmenwhentheyleaveLGS,readytogoto aprestigiousuniversity.
Thefavouritepartofmyjobistheweekendswhereboardersenjoya healthybalancebetweensomerelaxationafterabusyweekat schoolandfunactivitieslikebadminton,footballandbasketball,as wellasoptionaltripssuchasgo-karting.

Cross-Foundation Events offer New Opportunities
OurInternationalDinner,whichtookplace attheverybeginningofFebruary,wasa hugesuccessasboardingpupilsfrom acrosstheFoundationenjoyedathreecoursemeal,alongsideanexcitingquiz featuringquestionsrelatingtocultures aroundtheglobe.
Theeventisafantasticcelebrationof LoughboroughSchoolsFoundation’s boardingcommunityandeachboarding pupilinvitedafriendtojointhem, reflectinghowdeeplyintegratedour boardingpupilsareintothelifeofour schools.
Sincethebeginningoftheacademic year,we’veseenanincrediblenumber ofuniversityoffersarriveforourYear 13boys,nowtotalling367.
We’realsoextremelyproudtoseethat fourofourpupilshaverecently receivedoffersfromtheUniversityof CambridgeandtheUniversityof OxfordtostudyHistoryandSpanish, SpanishandModernGreek,Theology, andComputerScience.
AllSchoolswithinLoughboroughSchools FoundationcelebratedCultureWeek duringFebruary.AtLoughborough Grammar,lunchtimesconsistedofa varietyofpupil-ledworkshops,including ‘MakeaChineseGoodLuckSymbol’,‘An IntroductiontoModernGreek’,‘Scottish HighlandGames’and‘IndianMusic.’The workshopsprovidedboyswiththe opportunitytosharetheircultureswith theirfriendsandlearnsomethingnew.
Boysalsoenjoyedawholeschool assemblyfocusedonculturalidentity andalunchtimemenufilledwith differentcuisinestotryeachdayofthe week.
Ourboardingpupilshavecontinuedto enjoyweekendtripsandactivities throughoutFebruary.Aparticular highlightwasbowling!
Boarderscompetedagainsteachotherin groupsandenjoyedplayingarcade gamesafterwards.Frompooltoair hockeyanddrivingsimulators,itwas definitelyatripfulloffun.
