November provided ample opportunity for our international students to experience some of the more peculiar British traditions that come with the Autumn. To commemorate the Gunpowder Plot on Guy Fawkes Night the House made and burned their very own Guy while enjoying toffee apples, fireworks and a roaring bonfire. Scarves and gloves were certainly required.

Denton boarders enjoyed a day out to Birmingham’s Christmas Markets and finished the day in Birmingham’s China Town. Pictured at Ming Moon Chinese restaurant.

School House boarders enjoyed a trip to London to watch West End Theatre production, Kinky Boots.

Name: Falcon

Age: 18 A-levels: Maths, Further Maths, Chemistry and Physics I have settled in well to life in boarding and Loughborough Grammar School. I really enjoy the community atmosphere in boarding and get on very well with my room-mates. I am also really enjoying the chance to study abroad. I have been involved in many school activities in my first term and I am a member of Debating Club and the school CrossCountry team. I have also helped the local community with my work with primary school children in our Maths master-classes. I have also loved boarding trips to the historic city of York and to London for a West-End play. It has been a busy and fun term and after the Christmas break back in Shanghai I am looking forward to returning to boarding in Loughborough.

The new boarders in Denton House have already experienced some of the natural delights of the British Countryside. To get some perspective on their new town the boys climbed Beacon Hill and took in the views of Loughborough and the surrounding villages from the top.
