An overview
Originally founded in 1929 and now a flourishing School of some 500 pupils, Fairfield Prep School is perfectly situated to provide a first-class 21st Century Primary education.
Our thoroughly modern School building, surrounded by the high achieving Senior Schools we serve, was completed in 2016 and is a joy to teach and learn in. It provides the very best environment for boys and girls aged 3 - 11 years to gain a rounded
education, embracing academic, sporting and musical opportunities and including an incredibly diverse range of extra-curricular clubs and activities.
We work on the philosophy of tiny feet making huge strides. Our aim is to ignite the spark that lights a lifelong love of learning, so that when a child leaves us, they do so as happy, confident and fully independent learners.
Although our School’s 169 year history is rich and diverse, our educational ambition is refreshingly clear.
With the welcoming of boys into our Senior School from September 2019, we are Loughborough’s only co-educational independent school for children aged 4 – 18 years.
We are a non-selective School, dedicated to providing an environment where every pupil has the opportunity for long-term academic, spiritual and moral development. Our small class sizes, amazing ratio of teachers to
pupils, individual care and flexible curriculum allows us to cater for a range of abilities in a way that more selective schools or a larger school can’t always match. This is a distinctively warm and welcoming community within which everyone is known and loved. As one of our pupils so aptly put it, ‘nobody is a nobody’.
Our pupils are, and always have been, our best advertisement. Confident but not arrogant; ambitious but not materialistic, and well-equipped to face the worst and embrace the best that life
Loughborough Grammar School is one of the oldest independent Schools in the country, able to trace its origins back to 1495.
Academic achievement has always been our focus, as examination grades open doors. However, our ambition for every boy is much broader. Grammar School boys have unparalleled opportunity to develop their passions and skills and acquire the emotional intelligence needed to thrive in the world and grow into young men of Extra-curricularcharacter.

Everywheredrones.you look you will discover a school bursting with activity, where boys have huge respect for the varied talents of their peers and learn as much outside the classroom as within.
It is this happy fusion of work and play which is our implicit hallmark.
Founded in 1850 and moving to our current home in 1869, the High School is one of the country’s oldest Grammar Schools for girls.
Many of the values we uphold, standards we set and traditions we celebrate have been established in the ensuing years, always with the goal of creating a wonderfully welcoming community within which every pupil is supported and encouraged to become all that they can be.
We have always believed that happiness is a pre-cursor to academic success and we very much see our role as ensuring girls enjoy
their time with us. We place great emphasis on the provision of first-class pastoral care, a real breadth of opportunity and we develop particularly close links with parents. By encouraging initiative, independent thought and cultivating a lifelong enjoyment of learning, we equip pupils to nurture their confidence and skills to forge their own path.
We are proud to say that there isn’t a typical Loughborough High School girl. Every pupil can be the young person she wants to be, knowing that the girls around her will be her supporters, not her rivals.
Loughborough Nursery is committed to the highest quality of care and development of children from just 6 weeks old up to 4 years of age. For 51 weeks of the year we are here to support parents in their role as the first and most important educators of their child by providing a safe, stimulating, supportive and happy environment in which babies and young children can play, explore, learn and discover new things.
Supported by the wider Foundation, we are able to call on an exemplary and safe environment with a lovely outdoor play area, Forest School, our own kitchen and Chef and well qualified staff.
From the tiny or timid to the bolder or boisterous, each child’s time at The Nursery is structured to their individual needs and developing interests. Happy, settled, cared for and cared about, we put in place some of the important building blocks of the young people that the children in our care will become.
BOARDING AT THE GRAMMAR SCHOOL
The success of our boarding community has been an enriching part of Loughborough Grammar School for much of its long history.
With an active community of some seventy boys, our boarding is like a concentration of the very best our School offers, condensed into two wonderfully welcoming Houses within the campus.
Just like our Day pupils, Boarders are supported, individually known, cared for and cared about and encouraged to make the most of all the opportunities such a high achieving School provides.
