About the School Using Your Diary This diary is designed to help you with the organisation of your school life. In particular, it should be a record of your work and a reminder of homework to be completed as well as when tests and examinations are imminent. In order to use the diary effectively you need to develop a system. Here are some suggestions which may be of help: » Take your diary to every lesson and home with you each night. » Enter all the work set by teachers: homework, tests, assignments, etc. Put these down not only on the day set, but also on the day due. » Work should be recorded in sufficient detail to enable you to quickly commence the task at home. » Use pencil if alterations are likely. » Use symbols or abbreviations to save space. » Check your diary regularly each morning and night. » Mark off entries when complete. » Use the bookmark to indicate where you are up to. » Use the year planner to forward plan e.g. by putting down when work is due and your revision programme for tests and examinations. » Make sure that all the following entries are made: –– Lesson timetable –– Acknowledgement of circulars sent home to parents –– Absence slips when returning after illness.

School Support Personnel At Duncraig an extensive pastoral care system exists to support and guide our students. The following are some of the people who will be able to guide and assist you at various times.

TAG Teacher Your TAG teacher is the teacher you will see each day (except Wednesday). TAG teachers are responsible for attendance, disseminating information and the writing of references. TAG teachers wherever possible take their group through their five years at Duncraig Senior High School.

Year Coordinator The person in charge of your year group is there to try and help you solve any problems you might experience. The Year Coordinator will keep track of your progress throughout the year and is often the first point of contact for parents. Following are the Year Coordinators for 2010: Year 8

Notes should be handed to the TAG teacher prior to the absence or on the day of return. Parents/Guardians will receive a text message at 11.00am each day on their mobile phone for those students who are absent. Appointments or interviews should, if possible, be made outside school hours. Under NO circumstances should a student leave the school grounds without permission.

Late to School 1. When a student is late to TAG, the student reports directly to TAG. 2. When a student arrives after TAG but before 9.00am, he/she must report to the Year Coordinators’ office. 3. When a student arrives after 9.00am, he/she must report to the Front Office.
