Using your diary To use your Student Diary and Study Planner effectively, it is important to develop a system. The following suggestions may assist you: 1.
Keep your diary available at all times during the day and take it home with you each night.
2.
Plan your week time carefully.
3.
Enter all the work set by teachers: homework, tests, assignments, etc. Put these down not only on the day set, but also on day due.
4.
Work should be recorded in sufficient detail to enable you to quickly take up the task at home.
5. Use pencil if alterations are likely. 6. Use symbols or abbreviations to save space. 7.
Check your diary regularly each morning and night.
8.
Mark off entries when completed.
9. Use highlighter to show important dates such as tests.
Your Diary
10.
Ensure it is brought to school every day.
This diary is an important means of communication between the College and your parents. Each day it is to be signed by your parents (who may comment if they wish). Teachers will assist you in setting out your diary. It is up to YOU to look after it and make sure that all the relevant details are written up.

Homework It is generally expected that homework is an integral part of lifelong learning.
What is Homework? Homework is work which is formally set by the teachers to be completed outside formal learning time.
Types of Homework
What is Homework?
Homework set by the teacher may be several different forms. 1. Finishing work commenced in class This may involve some or all of the students in a class. 2. Revision of Classwork This is consolidation of work done at school and may involve practice, drill or memorisation. 3. Projects This requires independent research to be undertaken by the student in a given time frame. 4. Shorter Independent Activities This will include tasks such as home reading, maths sheets, etc. 5. Private Study This is undertaken when there is no other set work.
Why do Homework? It has been shown that homework will enhance achievement at school, especially if it is done regularly. The time spent working out of school time is an important addition to class time but does not replace class time.
Homework is set by teachers to: 1.
Complete all of the work required and which cannot be completed at school in the time available.
2. Consolidate the work that has been done in class. 3. Assist students having difficulties in specific Learning Areas. 4. Develop independent study and time-management skills which will be helpful for Secondary School and Tertiary Studies.

Uniform Policy Students are required to wear the College uniform at all times. It is expected that children become familiar with the uniform and wear it appropriately. Sports uniform may be worn on days when Physical Education is timetabled. Children who are inappropriately dressed will be reminded and a note sent home to parents indicating the inconsistency. If children are incorrectly dressed for a College function, Assembly or excursion parents will be notified on the day and requested to bring the correct uniform to the College or students may be excluded from involvement in the planned activity. A copy of the complete Uniform Policy is available from the Primary School Office.
