/ DESCRIPTION The project is a respone to President Sarkozy’s 2009 urban planning consultation of a Greater Paris area. Infrastruture is on one hand essential for our cities - being connected. At the same time infrastructure forces a hard border that threaten the urban morphology. In Paris boulevard Peripherique surrounds the heart of Paris. That have created an urban vacuum along the areas it crosses. Therefore we chose to exploit a redefinition of Paris within its boundaries. To become a Greater Paris, for this city, means to become more dense. Rather then a masterplan the project propose acupuncture methods to re-think/transform relationsships and connections between the city and its periphery.

/ DESCRIPTION Vorarlberg architecture institute invited tu delft to explore new architectural settings within an existing train line. We chose to place three public programs. They are on one hand taking into account the relative autonomy of the free standing buildings in the sprawled setting but on the other hand consolidating the urban tissue in order to create more defined public spaces. The train line forces a hard border in this otherwise highly permeable urban morphology. Therefore we choose to exploit the already existing tunnel/bridge, proposing additional stairs and a pedestrian path. The work building integrate the sloping terrain in its sculptural form and open up towards the surrounding - as a dynamic spiral.

This project was to redesign and strengthened an existing masterplan for a new urban area in Lyon - La Confluence. An area that traditionel has been the backyard of the city. The area’s location gives the potential to finally link Lyon with its river banks. An urban scheme that instead of a replacement choose to exploit a revitalization of the existing wholesale market, that today is vacated. We propose a strategy that creates an artificial landscape based on the historical layers. By a redefinition of existing terrain/section though an artificial landscape, it creates a field for communication/relation between: water and building structure, inside and outside, landscape and movement, old and new, the public realm and building mass.

The design for novo nordisk office building, a world leader in diabetes care is conceived as a square crossed by two routes. A concave glass corridor following the sloping terrain and a visitor/worker entrance. Inside an atrium floods the buil-ding with natural light and providing visual connections between the levels. Its dynamic contour gives the building a clear circulation. The entrance level houses a reception area. From here an open stair leads up to the atrium where meeting rooms, break out and touch down areas are organizated around. The plan layout creates a lively working environment where the walkway transforms into a “street� with niches, openings and different environments designed for a modern workplace.

/ DESCRIPTION The design presents a fully energy neutral City Hall for Rotterdam. By an architectonic homage to the round shape gives a maximum shelter with a minimum of material usage, is efficient and beautiful. One windmill on the Maasvlakte provides the last bit of electricity necessary for this “green heart� of the city. The project has renewed the historical, denser structure. The Halvemaanstraat and Trouw-steeg will be re-introduced to create the inner street between the Stadstimmerhuis and the City office. An area is thus created in which not only routes from A to B are made but also connections that make you want to stay, walk around, lounge and stimulate alternative routes. / DESCRIPTION Terminal 2 is an independent and original architectural work which connects seamlessly and harmoniously with the existing Terminal 1. But unlike the existing terminal, which is inspired by aerodynamic forms, Terminal 2 takes its inspiration in flow and movement. Movements of sweeping curves embrace the passengers and guide them swiftly and safely through the airport. The outline of Terminal 2 is clear and simple, following logical and well thought out construction principles. The dynamic forms are created with frames of timber that extend through the whole building supported by intermediate concrete beams. The roof is covered by Norwegian slate, referring to Norwegian nature. [ Copyright is held by SHL ]

A clean-cut sculptural volume provides a dynamic contrast to the site’ flat landscape. By a L- shaped organization the project meets the client’ wish to have full view to the street and also contain a private outdoor atmosphere. Inside a spatial wall gives the habitat a different experience. The long wall element provide entrance for the rooms of the house as it orient towards the main living space. A glazing facade along the wall element ensures an immediate relationship with the outdoor terrace. On the interior, all surfaces of the wall element are of plywood, marking a soft contrast to the white external facades/roof. The green house defines the transition between inside and outside and function in close relation to the kitchen.
