hubbardlouise@googlemail.com 07920104316 Creative Illustrator looking to build on my storytelling skills. Keen to keep exploring animation, and how I can use my skills as an illustrator in animation.
I was on my way to a remote island in New Guinea, hanging out the back of a truck and being bumped this way and that as we wound our way through the jungle. After a few hours, we came across a small village market and decided to buy some fruit for the remainder of the journey. Beautiful black skinned women with colourful dresses and small children weaving around their legs were happy to see us, but incredibly curious and slightly afraid- they rarely, if ever, had seen white people in these parts. I was squatting down looking at a pile of bananas when I saw a little hand come up and gently touch the banana pile next to mine. Not a black hand, a white hand. I looked up and next to me was a little albino girl about 5 years old. With all the features of a black New Guinean, including the incredibly frizzy hair, she was pale and pigmented. She stared at me with an immense curiosity, like she was trying to work out a complex equation. Eventually she held her arm up next to mine and looked at our pale skin for a while before a huge smile broke across her face. She reached into her pocket and gave me a nut. A friendship nut. No one is ever alone as they think in this world - there is always someone just as weird and different as you.

“the reason that singing together is so powerful is because when we sing together we have to synchronise our breathing, and when we synchronise our breathing our heartbeats start to beat in time, and when that happens we become joined together in community”
