One of his biggest inspirations is Father, he has taught him everything he knows about the game, and has always been there to keep push him and keep him motivated. How old were you when you started playing football? I was 12 years old, I really did not know to much about it but I was interested when I seen it on tv. I spoke with my dad about getting involved and the rest was history. At what point did you know that football was the sport for you? I fell in love with it from the start. When I did start to learn more about it, my love grew even deeper. I seen improvements and that is when I knew this is something I could potentially go to college for. Who is your inspiration and why? Family and friends, they’ve all seen and knew how good I’ve become since I’ve grown. They want me to play in college, so that’s what drives me to get better at practice. Especially on Friday night’s they can see not only me, but how far the team has come together. What makes you different from all the other recruits out there? I think what makes me different is the fact that I don’t play like I’m in high school. I hold myself to a higher standard, so if my mind is set to play on a higher level, then I go out and compete on a higher level. On Fridays I want to be the best in everything I do and play as if I’m already at the next level. Also, I’m coach-able and I can take criticism from coaches and learn from it. I

realize it is not about stats but about doing your job to the best of your ability because it helps the team overall. What has football taught you about overcoming adversity? It taught me that everything is not going to go the right way, and that it is okay. You learn from it and it helps you become a better person moving forward. What has football taught you about yourself? I’ve learned that everyone has a breaking point, and that the harder you work the harder it is for the other team to make you break. I’ve learned about myself how to become a better leader on and off the field. I volunteer for various charity events and other activities in the community that helps me gain knowledge in more than just football.

How is it playing all three positions at one time? It can be a tad difficult remembering all the plays but I love the challenge and I love playing football. I am willing to do whatever it takes to contribute to my team getting the win. How old were you when you started playing football? I was 4 years old when I started playing football. Out of all the sports that you have participated in, how did you know that football was the sport for you? I had a brother that played football for Baylor University and another brother that played football as well. I grew up watching them play the game that they love, and it only inspired me to want to play football. Now actually playing the sport, my love has grown even stronger for it. If I were to go to ask a coach who’s Myles Patin, what would they say in your opinion? My coaches would say that I am a hard-worker because, I am always the first one there and the last one to leave. I always trying to go above and beyond to help the team anyway that I can.

What is one word that describes you and why? I would have to say brave because, I have always wanted to go up against the biggest and toughest competitors. I am always up for the challenge, it challenges me and helps me evolve as a player on and off the field. How has memorizing the plays and your specific route when playing those three different positions at the same time helped you off the field? It has taught me that to be great you have to do extra things. For example, hard work beats talent because, I have seen a lot of talented people but the work you put in, is what puts you above others. What did Ray Lewis or Derrius Guice do that inspired you? When I found out that Derrius Guice didn’t have much of anything growing up and he had a goal set to make something out of nothing. Now that he is in the NFL means that you can truly make something out of nothing as long as your give it your all and then some. You have to stay true to yourself and the goals you have in order to achieve success.

Handling adversity is one of his many assets because, he knows how to adapt and accomplish any goal set in front of him. Ultimately, football is like a game of life to Dj. What talents did you possess that made you realize that playing wide receiver was the position for you? When I was growing up I actually did not have the body to play wide receiver. My dad has been training me a lot and have been putting in a lot of work, he has helped me to shape my body that it fits wide receiver perfectly. Then in High School my coach put me at that position and it fit me perfectly.

What was one moment in a game that you can recall that was a pivotal moment that lead you to where you are today in football? My first high school touchdown during my junior season. It was one of the best feelings, being able to run to the student section and hear peers cheer for me. During my sophomore season, I did not get the ball I mainly just blocked. It made me question if football was really for me. I figured out how to make my own fun through blocking, and I learned how to block very well. I even developed a love for blocking because, I began to improve at it.
