PK717,PK728,PK718-01,PK718-02,PK729 INSTALLATION INSTRUCTION WARNING: If siderails are damaged in any way, STOP – Do not try and repair siderail. Discard and replace attic ladder Figure 3 1.
Using drill with 1/4” drill bit for wood attic ladder or 3/16” drill bit for alum. attic ladder, center bit over rivet and carefully drill through thickness of rivet head. (See Figure 1). Caution: Make sure not to enlarge holes in ladder siderail when drilling.

If rivet head does not fall off, gently tap side of rivet head with chisel and hammer making sure chisel stays parallel with ladder siderail. (See Figure 2).

Once head of rivet is removed, tap remaining body of rivet through siderail using the nail punch and hammer. Repeat steps 1 through 3 for remaining 4 rivets.

Attach new handrail with bolts, washers, and locknuts provided. Securely tighten using (2) 7/16” wrenches for wood attic ladder and 3/8” wrench and screw driver for alum. attic ladder (See Figure 3)
5.
When repair is completed close and reopen ladder to inspect for proper operation before climbing.
