PK KIT # 719 HINGE REPLACEMENT KIT FOR WOOD ATTIC LADDERS READ THESE INSTRUCTIONS COMPLETELY BEFORE STARTING WORK

WARNING: Failure to comply with all instructions may result in serious personal injury and damage to the ladder. Before beginning, make sure all components are provided in kit and the list of tools required are available.

PK719 - INSTALLATION INSTRUCTION WARNING: If siderails are damaged in any way, STOP – Do not try and repair siderail. Discard and replace stepladder 1.

Using drill with 1/4” drill bit, center bit over rivet and carefully drill through thickness of rivet head. (See Figure 1). Caution: Make sure not to enlarge holes in ladder siderail when drilling.

If rivet head does not fall off, gently tap side of rivet head with chisel and hammer making sure chisel stays parallel with ladder siderail. (See Figure 2).

Once head of rivet is removed, tap remaining body of rivet through siderail using the nail punch and hammer. Repeat steps 1 through 3 for remaining 3 rivets.

Attach new hinges to the inside and outside of rail with bolts and locknuts provided. Securely tighten using (2) 7/16” wrenches (See Figure 3)

5.

When repair is completed close and reopen ladder to inspect for proper operation before climbing.
