The Star Of The Night – Ali Zafar Ali Zafar became the centre of attraction at the Lux Style Awards as he arrived in typical Ali Zafar vogue and his Omar Farooq tuxedo got noticed on the red carpet. The show of high-voltage allure was subjugated by the presence of Ali Zafar. He received the award for the Best Music Album for “Jhoom” and enlightened the evening with a tribute to the late King of Ghazal Mehdi Hassan, a medley of hit songs. Ali Zafar & Humaima Malik gave a performance of an invigorating finale that ended on the high notes of Madhubala. All in all Ali Zafar proved that he is the only “STAR” that can entertain for hours through his exhilarating performance.
Master Of Ceremonies – Ahmad Ali Butt Ahmad Ali Butt - the jack of all trades hosted the event & not only he carried the whole show on his witty wings but also broke all traditional rules of hosting. Looking sharp & on trend in Omar Farooq’s peak-lapel tuxedo & Tom Ford accessories, Ahmed gave a whole new meaning to hosting the biggest

Ahmed kept audience thoroughly entertained & alive by seasoning the script with his frenzied humour & electrifying performance. The man is the monarch of Theatre, Fashion, Film, Television & Music. The Men Of The Evening - ON Trend 1. Adnan Malik looked fantastic in Deepak Pervani. This is how all men should arrive at the award ceremonies even if they don’t have the honour of winning the best music video director award. 2. Deepak Pervani looked ravishing in Deepak Pervani. His offbeat style sets him apart from all the other men on the red carpet. Deepak & Ahmad carried the Black on Black look with precision 3. Tapu Javeri was a bracing sight to watch with the fluorescent tie. It added a rakish vibe to his impeccably neat look. Fluorescent hues are in trend & Tapu pulled of this endearing look benevolently.
The Women Of The Evening - On Trend This year the dresses, at least among the strapless brigade, seemed spectacular. A Muslim perspective on the Muslim world
The two issues of the journal in hand deal with ‘the plurality and diversity’ of an expansive but ‘thriving area of reporting, creative writing, poetry and scholarship’

T
he Muslim Institute London has lately embarked on publication of ‘a set of four volumes of ideas and issues showcasing groundbreaking thinking on Islam and what it means to be a Muslim in a rapidly changing, increasingly interconnected world’ in the shape of a serialised journal titled Critical Muslim. The avowed aim of the venture is to ‘examine issues within Islam, and Muslim societies, providing a Muslim perspective on the great debates of contemporary times, and promoting dialogue, cooperation and collaboration between ‘Islam’ and other cultures, including ‘the West’, and thus creating ‘a space for debate between Muslims and between Muslims and others, on religious, social, cultural and political issues concerning the Muslim world’, in what is claimed to be an ‘innovative, thought-provoking and forward-looking’ manner. Ziauddin Sardar and Robin YassinKassab have jointly edited the two volumes. The former who was born in Pakistan, is also editor of monthly Futures and Chair of the Muslim Institute and Visiting Professor at the School of Arts, The City University London, and is regarded as a ‘critical polymath’ interested in a wide area of

subjects like Islamic studies, culture, futures studies, information, science, radio, TV, column-writing, art and literary criticism, and critical theory. An author of over 45 books, he is considered a pioneering thinker on contemporary Islam. Born in Britain to a Syrian father and English mother, Robin Yassin-Kassab, the co-editor of the work, is author of a novel The Road from Damascus and in recent past, has worked as a journalist in Pakistan too. He now lives in Scotland and also co-edits the website Pulse. The four volumes of the journal are separately sub-titled as ‘The Arabs are alive’, ‘The idea of Islam’, ‘Fear and loathing’, and ‘Pakistan?’ Every issue of the journal embodies a theme which is obviously concerned with the politics, economics, culture, law, and literature of the Muslim world. The contributors, as per the editorial claim, are ‘convinced and sceptical Muslims, religious and cultural Muslims, and non-Muslims’ also. The two issues of the journal in hand deal with ‘the plurality and diversity’ of an expansive but ‘thriving area of reporting, creative writing, poetry and scholarship’. The first of the series keeps its focus on the contemporary Arab uprisings while the second incorporates contemporary debates and issues
related to Islam and the Muslim world seeking its ‘social, cultural and political transformation’. Apart from the editors, major contributors to the issue are Abdelwahab El-Affendi, Fadia Faqir, Jamal Mahjoub, Shadia Safwan, Jasmin Ramsey, Jerry Ravetz, Nizar Qabbani, Tawfiq Zayyad, Naomi Foyle, Taus Makhacheva, Rachel Holmes, Rose Aslan, Bilal Tanweer, S. Parvez Manzoor, Muhammad Idrees Ahmad, Samia Rahman, Aasia Nasir, and Merryl Wyn Davies. The theme of the contents of this issue seeks to disclaim the ironic intonation of the Syrian poet Nizar Qabbani’s lines: ‘In short/We wear the cape of civilisation/But our souls live in the stone age.’ The second volume is split into five parts titled ‘The idea of Islam’, ‘Essays’, ‘Art and Letters’, ‘Reviews’, and ‘Et cetera’. Southern Fried Chicken Look out Kfc!
Ingredients:
2 lbs cut-up chicken
Sauce Mixture: 4 eggs 1/3 cup water 1 cup hot sauce
Seasoning blend:
1 1/2 teaspoons salt 1 1/4 teaspoons fresh ground black pepper 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
Directions:
1.Heat peanut oil in a large deep pot to 350°F (do not fill more than half full--you don’t want a hot-oil spill-over accident!). 2.For sauce mixture: in a mediumsized bowl, beat the eggs with the water. 3.Add hot sauce and whisk together well. 4.Pour this mixture into a large plastic zip-top bag. 5.For seasoning mixture: In a small bowl, combine 1 teaspoon salt, 1/4 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper and 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder. 46 I July 22 - 28, 2012
Dredging mixture:
2 cups all-purpose flour 1 tablespoon baking powder 1/4 teaspoon salt 6.For dredging mixture: In a another bowl, mix flour, baking powder and 1/4 teaspoon salt. 7.Rinse and pat dry chicken pieces with a paper towel. 8.Cut breast pieces in half across ribs. 9.Sprinkle chicken generously on both sides with seasoning blend. 10.Drop a few chicken pieces of chicken into bag of sauce mixture and squish around to coat thoroughly. 11.One piece at a time, roll chicken in flour mixture and drop into hot oil. 12.Don’t crowd chicken pieces--I
cook about half the chicken at a time. 13.Fry chicken until brown and crisp. 14.Drain on paper toweling. 15.Dark meat will take about 14 minutes, white meat about 10 minutes. 16.Remember smaller pieces cook faster than the larger ones. 17.You can check for doneness by piercing to the bone in the thickest part with a fork. 18.If the juices run clear, it is done.

Zia-ul-Haq overthrew the elected Prime Minister Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto and hanged him on basis of a controversial death case. Likewise on the 12th of October 1999, Gen. Pervaiz Musharraf staged a coup d’ etat against Nawaz Sharif. Narrating the historical events with the reference of Lion and Goat is really something strange and it would be more interesting and surprising to know that both the Generals, mentioned above are Leo’s and

both the Prime Ministers, Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto and Nawaz Sharif are Capricorn by stars. This coincidence of the facts have made me realize that the impact of stars on personalities and eventually on the facts and events is same under the same circumstance. I am 100 per cent sure if Zia-ul-Haq had a different star, he wouldn’t have succeeded in overthrowing the powerful, intelligent and clever Prime Minister Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto. Then came a day when his own appointed CNC dethroned him, imprisoned and finally hanged him. At last, the story that started from 1964 ended after 13 years in 1977. Now lets view Nawaz Sharif. During the days of Zia-ul-Haq, he was a Provincial Finance Minister then he became the Chief Minister in 1988 and then after winning the elections he became the Prime Minister of Pakistan. During the days of his power he did everything which he could in order to fulfill his ego. He made enemies through his wrong policies and again came a day in history of Pakistan when another Lion ate the goat. This time the Lion was Pervaiz Musharraf and the goat Nawaz Sharif.

The similarities of characteristics in the case of Leo personalities are the same and the incidents and situations are exactly the same. The similarities of incidence has created history where twice a Lion has eaten up a goat.
