spy with my Little Eye something beginning with ‘L’. While many fashion and lifestyle stores are being opened for men and women, the beginning of August saw the opening of ‘Little London Company’ a unique boutique for kids, which is a haven for Tiny Tots, a Little world of natural goodness & its opened its doors for the very first time in our very own beloved city of Lahore! I was delighted with the shops iconic London theme offering the best of Britain. This delightful little boutique is brought to us by Farwa Tahir and Amir Mashkoor and Misha Peracha. When asked for her inspiration and what made her decide to open up a shop in Lahore, Farwa says that ‘I’ve been living in London for the past 4 years, it’s a great place to live for families because of the availability of different products, be they ethically sourced or organic or free-range or

simply innovative. Products range from the simple but effective to the quirky and design based but all around there is a lot of product to choose from. I was born and bred in Lahore so still have all my friends and family here and so have an understanding of what the market wants or has been asking for.’ They certainly do deliver on that, I was enchanted when I entered the shop and saw the bright and fun atmosphere. They have everything you could need for your child. The beautifully made cute and fashionable clothes from brands like the fun and quirky baby clothing company Olive and Moss with their beautiful graphic illustrations, such as my personal favorite character from their range, Louis the lion. As well as the quintessential, classic British brand -Jojo Maman Bebe with their adorable formal wear. All the clothes are 100 percent cotton as well which was what I thought was just the icing on the cake. Speaking of cake, there’s a treat

for all those with a sweet tooth. An oldfashioned candy and snack range which is all natural and junk free. You have got to give their lollipops and fruit roll-ups a try; they have so many exciting and delicious, flavors to choose from Cola, to Cherry and my personal favorite Tutti frutti. We all know how mothers can be about giving their children candy, I know how mine was, but the great thing is that these have no additives and are healthy so moms can indulge their children. One other thing I thought was a big plus point was their bath range. Bathing your baby is one of the most pleasurable aspects of being a parent I think.. And Little London’s all Organic and Natural Toiletries at Little Me Organics, are exactly that completely natural so you can be sure that nothing will irritate their sensitive skin. I also found the toys and books they had to be simply amazing, because children always want to be entertained and the products that Little London Company have on offer are simply amazing. They have all non-toxic wooden toys which looked exquisitely crafted. I especially admired the Noah’s Ark with all the colorful animals. I thought these were a great improvement over the cheap plastic toys that one usually finds nowadays. They also have a large collection of educational and creative books such as The Very Hungry Caterpillar by Eric Carle which has sold more than 33 million copies worldwide. I found the illustrations wonderful and the book was unique in that its interactive as well as educational, little holes cut in the pages allow toddlers to wiggle their fingers through the food, just like the caterpillar. Vivid and colorful illustrations and ingenious layered pages teach the days of the week, how to count, and how a caterpillar turns into a butterfly. This picture book is definitely a must have for every toddler’s library. The best thing though was their activity area for the kids, it was adorable and allowed the mothers who were there with children to shop in peace as the kids were entertained by the toys and they were read books. So it actually turned the shop into an activity place that you could go to, not just a mere shop. This is only a glimpse of some of the treasures I found at Little London Company. I would definitely recommend all the mothers to make a visit to this one stop shop for their entire baby needs and take the kids with

estivities of the hard earned Eid-UlFitr are round the corner; a month of deprivation from food or water for over 15 hours calls upon our basic instincts to take over after iftar. The desire to splurge and gorge on food has never been more but there’s the other important consideration, and rather important too, too look fabulous. After all, fitness ought to show! I’ve put down a list of short tips that help you in the quest for looking your best:
1.
Stock up on the right kind of carbs:
Carbohydrates contain starch, water and fiber. Choose the ones that contain lots of fiber and less starch as the latter does the job By Mariam of tellingAftab your body to hold to it’s fat stores. Green leafy vegetables and certain fruits (apples, pears, berries) are a good source. 2. Proteins: The active human requires about 2grams of proteins per kilogram of body weight. Do your math and you’ll realize your most likely consuming half of what you ought to.
3. Don’t obsess with numbers : Your bathroom scale may keep you updated every hour about your weight changes; but that information comes at a cost. Though your concerns are worth the appreciation, they may be signalling your stress hormones to take over. This, in

turn, may cause metabolism to slow down and help slow, rather than burn body fat.
4. Exercise! (I know you’ve heard it before):
But here’s the key, today’s buzz word is “mindfulness” meaning you needn’t switch off during exercise or needlessly walk on the treadmill. “Indulge” in exercises that demand your attention, that are adequately challenging and come across as rather less boring in order to be continued. Rule of thumb is, total body workouts are more beneficial than single muscle isolated workouts. In other words, change your exercise regime if the current one isn’t or hasn’t yielded results.
5. Who’s your fitness trainer?: Exercise
isn’t a blame game; neither you, nor your trainer is to be help responsible for not achieving your fitness goals. However, that said, your trainer has the responsibility of devising an exercise program that is specific to your needs. This guy ought to have the right education, not merely hardcore bodybuilding experience.
6. Don’t starve yourself: I call it the HEC cycle, short for Hunger, Energy and Cravings. You’ve got to introduce mindfulness into your eating plan (that’s why I’m not calling it a diet) and determine what works best for you.
7. Counting calories is an incomplete approach: Comparable quantities of a donut and baked fish in terms of calories are actually not the same thing.
Refined carbs will have a very different impact on blood sugar compared to lean sources of protein. Only counting calories is an obsolete approach to fat loss as each food source speaks differently to the endocrine system (hormones) and hormones are a very potent, yet misunderstood part of the fat loss process.
8.Weight loss:
loss
or
fat
Body weight contains lean mass (muscle), fat mass, and water. It’s highly undesirable to lose lean muscle, which means losing weight. Lean muscle has numerous health and fitness (including appearance) benefits, therefore, the way to go is to retain (or better still gain) lean muscle and lose body fat. Last but not the least, consistency puts everything together. You could be on the best nutritional and exercise regime but you won’t see results overnight. So, stick with your programs for a few months before you decide to move on. Good luck!
