LETTER FROM THE EDITOR Welcome to Second Star. Created by two girls whom often find themselves lost in other worlds, this is our zine. Our world of thoughts and things we currently love and fascinate upon. We hope you enjoy. Our theme for this issue is Endings. We asked our other lost boys and girls to help us along too and we hope you enjoy! We chose endings because as of recent alot of our favourite movies and books came to their climax. So we were curious what kind of endings other people were sad for or even enjoyed... And for each issue we have our lost girl of the month and this one we chose our Korean queen Cherise. We explored through nostaligia and dark dreams and the fear of the apocolypse with our shoot with her. Have a gander.. and we do hope you enjoy SS x

Your favourite movie ending?
One thing you never want to end?
The Graduate, Beauty and the Beast, Leon.. too many to choose..
DEXTER the Showtime network show. I dont think my heart could take it.
Introduction.. When the world ends, you do not end up missing what you think you wouldmiss, like your family and your friends or electricity, fresh food and hot running water, not even healthcare or a good night sleep. You miss the things that you took for granted. You miss the constant hum of the radio and the sounds of dogs barking. You long for play parks overflowing with children and the reassuring glow of the street lamps at night. You would trade your last can of beans to sleep in the same bed every night and press the snooze button the next morning. You remember smiling at strangers on the street and the tiny red number 1 which meant you had a new text. Once you had no idea where your life was going and that was something multi-million dollar industries aimed to help you rectify. Now that is just the way it is and no amount of money can change the world.. You remember reading somewhere that human could adapt to anything if you gave them enough time, but you can not quite get used to killing things which used to be your neighbours.
You can not fathom the idea that graffiti warning do not open, dead inside is the only art that will ever be made. Walking miles daily, weighed down by a backpack containing all your earthly belongings has you actually missing public transport. The days pass in an unrecognizable haze and you try to hold on to memories of Easter Sunday, Halloween, Christmas, your birthday. You stopped celebrating another year on the planet when it started dying and you can not even call 999 to report a crash.
Of course there are things that you do not miss about that time too. You certainly do not miss shaving or working jobs you hate. You do not miss the claustrophobic crowds of city centres, being governed by social conventions or paying the bills. You do not have to worry anymore about small talk or making awkward first impressions. Advertisements are just a part of the scenery. You can not remember the names of any celebrities or supermodels. You don not have to wait for the green man and fate would have to be extremely cruel for you to bump into an ex. Even if you did, you could turn the other way because the names your parents gave you are like another language now.
In the end, if you survive, you are completely free. Written by Jasmin Betts

S tar “You clearly don't know who you're talking to, so let me clue you in. I am not in danger, Skyler. I am the danger. A guy opens his door and gets shot, and you think that of me? No! I am the one who knocks! This summer concludes the end of AMC's intense drama Breaking Bad.. Second Star are distraught to see their favourite chemistry teacher Walt and his co partner and our angel Jesse leave our screens. Our animator and other tv nerd Chris Gray wraps up the final season for us and what we have to come as Breaking Bad comes to an end..
After a lengthy mid-season break AMC's Breaking Bad returns to screens this August with the second half of the final season. But with only seven episodes remaining we are a surprisingly long way from the events teased in Season 5's cold opening set a year into the future. A scene that will most likely be taking place in or around the series finale. It is speculated that Walt, seen here using a fake identity had recently acquired the services of Saul's “Vacuum Salesman, an associate who will help people to disappear if they call up quoting a specific model. The events leading him to take this drastic measure are still up for debate. Arguably the biggest development in season 5 is that Hank now knows the identity of Heisenberg. Meaning that the inevitable confrontation between Hank and Heisenberg, an event long anticipated by viewers throughout the entire series run is close at hand.
But how could Walt be so careless as to leave the evidence out in plain sight? Could it be possible that Walt wanted to be found out? It would definitely fall in line with his previous remarks made in a recent scene with Jesse. In which Walt confessed that his primary motivations had shifted from money to status. Walt has proven himself to be extremely egotistical time and again so it wouldn't be surprising if he were to want to see his secret identity revealed before his death.
Of course, it will not just be Hank out for Walt this summer. In the flash forward previously mentioned Walt is shown to be buying an M60 machine gun with ammunition. In an interview with Rolling Stone magazine, series creator Vince Gilligan commented that Walter is returning to town to protect someone. Who he is returning to protect Gilligan has not revealed but it is highly unlikely that it will be from Hank and the DEA. The most likely adversary would be Declan and Walt's new distribution partners who Walt had struck a deal to cook for just prior to leaving the meth business. I seriously doubt that these new partners would allow him to leave the game so easily. Breaking Bad returns to US screens on August 11th. Due to licensing issues the no networks are planning to air the remaining episodes in the UK. However it is expected that Netflix will host the final episodes shortly after they air in the states. All we can say is the Second Star girl's and myself as well as the thousands of fans of Breaking Bad really do not want this show to leave us. Lets hope its an incredible exit!

LONG LIVE LIVING We wandered through abandoned lots and old buildings and searched for love and hope.. Cherise our lost girl of the month, here in our Long Live Living apocolypse style shoot.. When living is as good as it gets, staining your only shirt with your best friend's guts kind of makes you want to take the bullet train out of your home town. The five of us sat down in the back row of the cinema where we had spent so many weekends. We had picked it because of the sound proofed screening rooms. Even though the pact had been my idea, I was glad that I hadn't ended up with the gun because I didn't want to go first. How many bullets are left? Six. Of course. I wonder what movie we'd be watching ifIf is a dirty word. Let's just get this over with. I don't want to be on the menu. Then there were five bullets left and her blood on all of our faces. She picked the gun up off of the sticky floor. No last words: four bullets and a glossy arm rest. See you soon. Three bullets now: one girl between me and judgement. She gripped my hand like she knew just what I was thinking. Then she did it anyway; two bullets. She did not want to stay in a world like this. I sat there with their bodies. Then I heard the first one break through our hastily made barricades. I took the gun and the flashlight and made my way down the fire exit. I had always hated running in school. Interview Time We at Second Star are fascinated with the apocolypse as you know, we asked our friend and former model and photographer Rachel Waniewski how she would like the world to end and to show us some of her recent work!
How would you like the world to end and why? The definition of 'World' has different meanings for different people. Assuming you mean, the demise of the earth... The evangelicals have been preaching that the end of the world is near since... um... forever? So far none of their dates worked out. So, supposing the rapture is unlikely, I think we should go out with a bang, hit by an asteroid or a planet like in Melancholia.
A piece on an ending for Dex.. based on true events..
I remember so well.. though only a dream. I remember our footsteps on the snow. I turned to you and you said "lets never leave.." How could I stay here.. everything here was clear but yet still dark. It was all your past, all your hate.. everything that hurt me.. "We had our time together, you chose her and I chose him.. thats it" "You dont mean it I know you want me.." "It was a long time ago, we grew up.. we have to end this" "no.. I cant.. I wont let you go again" He grabbed a hold of my wrist so tight, it ached. Suddenly I was being pulled.. "Let go of me" "NO this isnt going to happen to me again!" I saw his hand raise up.. everything suddenly went black.. I awoke.. still the snow everywhere, I can feel it sinking into my clothes. I'm on the ground? I look across.. blood.. so much.. "Philip?" "It's ok baby you're with me. Never going to be apart again.."

final note words by Lost Girl Blake
Life is mostly a solo trip. Some people come along and change your life, and shape you into a better person. Or an angrier person. Or maybe someone super bitter. Or someone trying so fucking hard to hold it all together. But every story has an ending. I hate endings. They make me want to turn my head and I try not to cry. Yet I read every book ever, and hell, even try to write books.I know that eventually, it’s going to end.I’m going to be left there as a reader holding a book. Sometimes screaming. See reference: Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix. Sometimes holding myself crying why god why. See: Les Mis and The Fault In Our Stars. When a book ends, I don’t know how to go on with my life. And when I’m writing, I don’t know how to end things. I’m awkward. I want things to go on forever because I don’t want my characters to feel alone. Life is mostly a solo trip. And it is agonising when people walk away. But the endings are necessary and I’d rather be moved to anger or tears or bitterness than not be changed at all. I have to stop looking at my life like a bowl of guacamole. It tastes beautiful until it gets old. So you have to change things up. I have to start thinking of endings as new beginnings. The next chapter. The next solo trip.
