Registration: All registration will be processed online at goramblers.org/sports-arts-camps. No mail-in or walk-up registrations will be accepted.

Discounts: A 25% sibling discount will be given for the second and any subsequent siblings registering for the same camp with the same coach or instructor. Discounts will be applied once the registrations are reviewed by the camp office. There will be no daily or weekly pro-rated discounts unless otherwise specified in the camp description.

Cancellations/Refunds: A $25 fee will be applied to all cancellations. No refunds will be issued once the camp starts. Exceptions may be made for serious illness or injury.

Questions? All specific camp questions (i.e. weather, absences) should be directed to the individual camp coach/instructor. All coach/instructor information is listed with the camp information. Coaches/instructors may email weather updates or changes in schedules.

GIRLS' CAMPS

ACTING INTENSIVE

6TH - 8TH GRADE

Would you like to up your acting game? Are you new to performing or a seasoned pro? Our Loyola theatre teachers are award-winning, national and international theatre artists who focus on building your skills in voice, movement, characterization, monologues, scene work, and working in an ensemble. Pairing daily training with rehearsing a short performance, you will learn in community and at the end of our time, you will produce a show on our Performing Arts Center stage. You will work alongside Loyola students to learn special skills such as dance and fight choreography, warm up and build your communication skills as an actor on the stage, and you will get a head start working in our state-of-the-art, Broadway style theater Each performer gets the chance to shine on our stage! BOWLING

Camp dates and times may change, please contact Coach Tres for more information This camp is open to current team members, as well as any athlete from 6th grade through high school interested in improving their skills Special attention will be directed toward refining and developing the skills necessary to compete and succeed in bowling at the high school level. Classroom on lane instruction will be used along with video to provide each athlete a unique and individualized learning experience. Coach Tres was named by Bowlers Journal International as one of the Top 100 coaches in the United States in 2006 through 2014. Also, Coach Tres is a USBC Silver certified coach and has Dick Ritger level 1, 2 and 3 certifications. Coach Tres was named Athletico Physical Therapy’s 8th Annual Coach of the Year in December 2020.

CHEERLEADING

K-8TH GRADE

Join us for our Kindergarten-8th grade cheerleading summer camp! This camp will focus on learning cheerleading specific skills such as motions, jumps, etc and game day routines! Campers will be organized into smaller groups based on grade level to work on age appropriate skills Routines that are learned will be performed on the last day and all families will be invited to watch! Attire: Athletic top, athletic shorts, skirt or leggings, gym shoes and cheer shoes should be worn

CHEERLEADING 9TH - 12TH GRADE

This camp is for athletes that were chosen via tryouts for the 2024 fall cheerleading junior varsity and varsity teams. The camp will focus on developing proper technique for motions, jumps, stunting, and tumbling. Learn sideline cheers and quarter performances to prepare for football games Cheerleading summer camp is designed to work on safe skill progression in all aspects of the sport It is highly recommended, but not required, to attend both camp sessions as progressions from the first session will lead into the second session Participants will work with coaches and veteran athletes Athletic top, athletic shorts, skirt or leggings, gym shoes, and cheer shoes should be worn Note, strength and conditioning will be scheduled over the summer Dates and times are TBD There will also be a three day NCA Speed Camp at Carthage College and additional clinics over the summer that are a separate cost Dates are TBD

5TH - 8TH GRADE

Time to get up, dance, and perform in Loyola Academy's summer dance camp! This two week camp will focus on technique, flexibility, and performing in ballet, jazz, hip hop, contemporary/lyrical, and/or musical theater Dancers will learn dances in these styles throughout the weeks and have the opportunity to perform in Loyola's Leemputte Family Theater on the last day of camp All friends and family are invited to watch the performanc Camp t-shirts will be included in the cost of the camp

SUMMER MUSICAL THEATER INTENSIVE

6TH - 12TH GRADE

Back by popular demand, the Summer Musical Theatre Intensive is an exciting new opportunity taught by Aaron Umsted, a professional director, choreographer, and theater educator The Intensive gives performers the opportunity to explore the skills necessary to become a true triple threat! Students will receive expert training in acting, singing, and dance, while simultaneously rehearsing for a showcase performance to be presented on the final day of the session.

Through this empowering experience, students will grow as individuals and also as ensemble performers.

The Intensive runs for two weeks, July 8 - July 19, from 9:00 a.m. – 12:00 noon, in Loyola Academy’s Performing Arts Center. The program is open to rising junior high and high school students.

Aaron Umsted is currently the Artistic Director of The Children’s Theatre of Winnetka (CTW) where he has directed and choreographed The Lion King, You’re a Good Man Charlie Brown, Matilda, The SpongeBob Musical, Singin’ in the Rain, and Disney’s Mary Poppins Mr Umsted’s Chicago-area theater credits include productions with Chicago Shakespeare Theatre, Northwestern University, Paramount Theatre, Drury Lane Oakbrook, and Marriott Theatre where he was nominated for a Jeff Award for his role as Will Parker in Oklahoma. He has also toured North America in the Broadway companies of A Chorus Line, Disney’s Mary Poppins, and the Tony Award winning revival of Anything Goes. Aaron is a 20-year member of Actor’s Equity Association, and holds a BFA in Musical Theatre from the University of Oklahoma, and a MEd. in Theatre Pedagogy from Southeastern Oklahoma State University.

INTRO TO STRENGTH & CONDITIONING

7TH - 8TH GRADE

This camp is for beginners through very experienced athletes Comparable skilled athletes will be grouped together All camp sessions will focus on the aspects of strength and conditioning for their age group Including proper warm ups, speed mechanics, agility, strength training, stretching and nutritional guidance This camp will prepare athletes for their upcoming athletic season, as well as the understanding for how Rambler athletes train for their high school seasons. Each athlete will be coached on how to become faster and agile on the field and will be taught proper strength training techniques in the weight room. Camp will consist of 45 minutes of speed/agility and 45 minutes of strength training. Minimum of three athletes required.

SWIMMING

7TH - 12TH GRADE

This camp is designed for novice and experienced swimmers The focus for the athletes will be on technical refinement along with other related skill development This camp will serve as a precursor to the fall and winter sports programs providing an opportunity for athletes to work with some of our Loyola coaching staff Video feedback along with in depth stroke analysis will provide the athlete the edge they need to build on their skills regardless of experience Athletes are invited to attend any or all sessions Participants should be able to swim a minimum of 25 yards of freestyle and backstroke upon entry into the camp Bring a water bottle, swimsuit, and googles to camp Anyone with long hair will be required to wear a swim camp for the duration of the camp

This is a co-ed camp focusing on stroke production, match play, conditioning, and sportmanship Camps will be coached by former Loyola players and current coaches with players challenged according to skill level Players will complete in drills and matches Friday of each week will be used as a rain make-up day

The camp is designd for boys/girls novice and experienced athletes interested in the hurdles. The focus will be on technique, drills, and speed/endurance/strength development as a precursor to competing in the event during the winter/spring sport seasons. Camp will be held rain or shine. This camp is designed to teach the fundamentals of defense, baserunning, and hitting Camp will be run by Loyola staff, as well as current and former players from the Loyola program Athletes are encouraged to wear baseball pants and baseball hat, but shorts are allowed Must have their own baseball glove and are encouraged to bring helmets, a bat, and cleats

BASEBALL

9TH - 10TH GRADE

This camp is will have specific defensive training and also focus on hitting and offense Each week we will do some sort of scrimmage to see how our drills are translating into the game Infielders will refine basic and learn advanced level footwork skills and learn a comprehensive understanding of positional responsibilities Outfielders will prioritize communication and effective outfield movements to allow them to take good routes to the ball and work on making smart decisions Catchers will focus on receiving pitches and proper positional footwork and positional positioning behind home plate. Hitting will be an introduction and refinement of Loyola's hitting approach. Loyola's baseball staff will be present for camp to maintain continuity with athletes. Please wear baseball pants, a Loyola shirt, and a hat. Players must bring cleats, a bat, and gloves; helmets will be provided to athletes for hitting work. Catches need to bring their own gear.

BASEBALL

The first hour of camp will be position specific training The second hour will be hitting focused Infielders will work on footwork, glove placement, hand speed, and agility related defensive development techniques Outfielders will work on tracking the baseball, taking efficient routes to the baseball, as well as communication and defensive rotation Catchers will develop receiving techniques, blocking, and throwing footwork to increase their ability to throw base runners out Hitting will continue to develop their offensive approach, using Loyola specific offensive drills that allow them to refine their hitting mechanics, bat speed, and power Loyola baseball staff will be present for camp to maintain continuity with athletes. Monday will be a skills day; Tuesday and Wednesday will be game days intersquad games. Please wear baseball pants, a Loyola shirt, and a hat. Players must bring cleats, a bat, and gloves; helmets will be provided to athletes for hitting work. Catches need to bring their own gear.

This camp is designed for both novice and experienced runners. The camp is intended as a preparation for those planning to run cross country or track in high school. Topics include types of training (aerobic, anaerobic threshold, interval and speed training) racing tactics, strength training, warm up and warm down, stretching, peaking running technique and running injuries. Camp will be held rain or sunshine. Please bring a water bottle. Note, no camp on July 4 make-up day on July 12.

CROSS COUNTRY/DISTANCE RUNNING

10TH - 12TH GRADE

Runners should come prepared to run daily. The camp is designed for both the experienced and novice runners. Preparation for the fall season will be stressed. The emphasis is on training in every important area of distance running and racing. Topics include types of training (aerobic, anaerobic threshold, interval and speed training), racing tactics, strength training, warm up and warm down, stretching, peaking, running technique and running injuries. Please bring a water bottle. Camp will be held rain or shine. We will work out a reduced fee for those who can attend only a limited number of weeks. Note, no camp on July 4 make-up day on July 12.

FOOTBALL CONDITIONING 6TH-8TH GRADE

The emphasis of this camp is on non-contact instruction for the grade school level athlete. Every aspect of football is covered, including stance, footwork, speed, ball handling, passing, route running, receiving, blocking, defending the pass, lineman hand combat, and tackling. Players can choose specific positions or rotate. Varsity coaches, Beau Desherow and Mike Kotowski, along with varsity football players will instruct campers in football technique Two days a week head strength coach Jeff Lindeman will instruct campers in agility/speed training for 45 minutes No pads needed, but please bring gym shoes for the possibility of indoor training Cleats are optimal for turf training, but not a necessity There will be no camp on Wednesday, June 19

FOOTBALL CONDITIONING 9TH GRADE

The emphasis of this camp will be on the development of the incoming football player This camp includes all conditioning and football instruction for the entire summer No other football or conditioning camp needed All pads will be provided Campers should wear compression shorts/shorts and t-shirt Cleats optimal, but gym shoes needed for indoor work The first week will be helmets only Helmets and shoulder pads will be worn for the rest of the football practices (weather permitting) All prospective QBs should arrive 15 minutes early for extra training on football practice days. This is not a mandatory camp, but all freshmen who would like to play football should attend as much as possible for proper instruction and development. Head Freshman Coach Hohs will email all changes or other instructions before the start of summer camp. No camp on June 19 or July 4. Fall camp (non-voluntary) starts Monday, August 12.

The camp is designed for all skill levels, beginner to advanced, and will provide instruction from members of the Loyola Academy coaching staff with very light contact where all facets of dodging and shooting will be taught for all skill levels. Advanced players will definitely learn and be challenged. Defensive positioning, checks, footwork, and learning to play around the crease will be covered. FIELD HOCKEY

5TH - 8TH GRADE

This camp is open to all girls interested in field hockey, offering a solid introduction to the game and the skills necessary for beginners, as well as a challenging curriculum for advanced players. Campers will be sorted by grade, but also take into account skill level. This camp offers a great opportunity to have fun, develop as an athlete, and learn from coaches who have played, and coached, at the highest collegiate level. We will focus on teaching fundamentals essential to take the player's skills to the next level. Sessions will be a combination of skills/technical stations and small-sided, heavily-instructed, game play to help players advance their tactical IQ and hone their technical skills. All campers will receive a Loyola pinny and a summer skills packet with individual and partner drills and fitness routines that athletes can use independently to improve their field hockey skills. This is not a mandatory camp but all returning athletes who would like to play field hockey this fall should attend as much as possible for proper instruction and development. Depending on registration numbers, multiple teams may be formed by the coaching staff. While we understand players may need to miss a game due to summer vacation, consistent game attendance is preferred.
