• Dilutes in water and provides a polymer-silver complex upon application to textiles surfaces.
• Provides a homogenous finish of silver throughout the treated article. • Patented polymer containing silver technology delivers silver ions to fabric surfaces and activates them in the presence of undesirable bacteria. • Micro-organisms are killed on the textile through contact with silver ions.
SILVADUR™ Is Not Nano SILVADUR solution is a homogenous mixture containing fully soluble silver ions and fully soluble polymer in a mixture of water and ethanol. The silver component is not present as detectable individual metal particles of any size, but rather as dissolved chemical ions. An analogous system that could be used for illustration purposes is a homogenous aqueous solution containing sodium and chloride ions, easily prepared by dissolving table salt in water. No solid particles of table salt remain in this situation, as no solid particles of silver are present in the SILVADUR product.

Protecting Our Environment • SILVADURTM antimicrobial is retained longer on fabric substrates, resulting in a longer garment “working life.” • The Smart Release mechanism releases silver ions only when they’re needed, ensuring that more active remains on the surface for longerterm antimicrobial activity. • Garments stay fresher longer. • No silver particles are released into the environment. • Unlike silver particles that last a long time in the environment, silver ions do not.

Protecting Our Wastewater • SILVADURTM antimicrobial has demonstrated 100% exhaustion of the silver-containing polymer system on the target substrates. If 100% exhaustion is not achieved the silver is complexed in the polymer and no silver particles are released into the waste stream. The polymer only releases silver ions, not particles. • Unlike particle silver antimicrobials the SILVADUR polymer can be neutralized before being sent to the waste stream. Neutralization of the bath can be obtained by dropping the pH to below 3.0 with acetic or hydrochloric acid. The silver-containing polymers will then drop out of solution and can be soaked up with an absorbent material or filtered to remove the residual polymer. Simply allow the materials to air dry and the resulting material can be sent to the landfill or incinerated.
