Dear Friends,

On this special occasion, I join with Farber Hebrew Day School and its many students, families and friends to celebrate two very deserving couples. These exceptional people are being recognized for their incredible commitment to the school and to the community.

I offer my sincerest congratulations to Dr. Martin and Sarah Kornblum for receiving the distinguished Community Chesed Award, and to Mikey and Ariella Skocyzlas for receiving the distinguished Alumni of the Year Award. Marty and Sarah exemplify what it means to be generous, warm and hardworking. Mikey and Ariella are leaders in the community and have been very active with the school, as well as integral to its growth, for many years. Both couples are passionate about the Detroit Jewish community and dedicated to the State of Israel and its people. All of these special and accomplished individuals have made countless contributions to Farber Hebrew Day School.

Farber Hebrew Day School

Yeshivat Akiva provides college preparatory education offering excellence in both Judaic and General Studies, and fosters a love for the land of Israel. It is unique in Michigan as the only Modern Orthodox Jewish Day School, and I am excited to be able to recognize tonight’s honorees for their important impact on the school and its community.

Once again, I offer my heartfelt congratulations to Dr. Martin and Sarah Kornblum and to Mikey and Ariella Skocyzlas, as well as to Farber Hebrew Day School. I am honored to participate in celebrating them tonight.

Sincerely,

Helaine M. Zack County Commissioner District #18
