CONCEPT The name VARNABAS originates from two words, ‘Varna’ meaning ethnic group and ‘Baas’ meaning shelter/home. Visualizing the concept of preserving & showcasing the ethnic diversity of our country Nepal, VARNABAS came into inception for a name of a hotel. Nepal being rich in culture and nature has a lot to offer for tourism. Having this in mind, coming up with a hotel showcasing the cultural diversity under one roof built this concept. VARNABAS will be a boutique hotel reflecting Nepal and its cultural & ethnic diversity. The façade of the building will be of semi-modern architecture with a touch of tradition and the facilities inside the hotel will be of utmost comfort and luxury. Our main aim will be to attract tourists into the hotel who should feel at home in the midst of rich culture of Nepal. The hotel will serve as a cultural ethnic live museum where they can understand and experience our cultural and ethnic diversity. The Museum Hotel will consist of 2 floors each dedicated to 3 ethnic groups - Tharu, Gurung & Sherpa representing ethnic group from three regions - Terai, Pahad & Himal (Southern plain, hills & Himalayan regions). Meanwhile, our entrance and lobby will personify the rich culture of the Newar ethnic group, who represent the Kathmandu Valley, where our hotel is located.

CONCEPT “VISTARA” – a word in Sanskrit which means “endless expanse” or “expansion”. VISTARA intends to display, enhance and bring to light the cultural aspects deeply connected with Janakpur: primarily Mithila Cultural aspects. Vistara also aims to absorb the theme of other ancient aspects connected with Janakpur: either in aesthetical building or in form of service handed out by staff. In essence, VISTARA should aim to take people along a journey of culture, history with hints of religious aspects connected with Janakpur.

The hotel is located at Biratnagar, only 7km away from Nepal’s southern border with Bihar, India. This provides a huge opportunity of cross border interactive destination. Hence the proposed development consistsof 80 hotel rooms, casino and banquet facility to cater to these activities. The design intention is to represent traditional Nepalese architecture that truly represents our Nepalese roots. The development consists of the international brand Aloft Hotel rising as two- high rise towers over five storeys of tourism related offices, facilities for cultural, entertainment activities as well as retail and dining. It is designed as destination in Thamel as well as a new focal point in Thamel area. The whole design is composed around a large urban court. The architecture style aims to evoke the aesthetic principles of the traditional architecture of the Kathman- du valley in an innovative fashion. The overall built-up area of the proposed project is 350,000 sq. ft. including two levels of basement parking. Aloft Kathmandu is a 180 room five-starred International Brand Hotel by Starwood Hotels and Resorts.
