Offshore support vessels Providing you with value-added design, construction and in-service support

The offshore support vessel (OSV) industry is increasingly complex. Demanding regulations, multi-functional vessel features, emerging technologies and diverse operating environments are just some of the challenges it presents. In this market, making the right business decisions is vital in order to gain competitive advantage. Lloyd’s Register (LR) understands these challenges. We have a proven track record in delivering value-added support based on impartial technical and commercial advice. Through our classification and consultancy services, we support you at every stage of your vessel’s lifecycle, from technology and innovation verification, through design and build, to operation. We also assign a dedicated client manager to help ensure our service to you is as fast and reliable as possible. Technology and innovation verification Through our technology and innovation verification services, we can help to boost your technical capability. – Our newly established Global Technology Centre in Southampton co-operates with academia and flag states, monitoring and validating new technologies for compliance with regulatory regimes. – Involvement with joint industry projects ensures that proposed new technologies are identified and addressed as part of alternative design considerations and a risk-based approach. – We provide access to LR’s Technology leaders and subject matter experts.

Design and build Our local and global expertise supports your new construction project whether you are the owner, designer, equipment manufacturer or shipyard. – New construction of OSVs is a global business, so LR provides assistance to designers and shipyards worldwide. This is delivered by our network of Technical Support Offices (TSOs) – strategically located in areas with marine activities. – Our TSOs provide services ranging from initial design support on statutory and classification aspects to plan approval. – For potential new projects, we offer an early design review to ensure that

all Rules, Regulations and statutory requirements are considered. – Our experience and insight into various flag state regimes helps you understand their requirements and use previously adopted concepts. – During the design phase we also add value by advising on preparing for potential future upgrades. – LR’s applied project management process ensures that all stakeholders are kept up-to-date on progress, and that unexpected problems can be mitigated and resolved rapidly without delaying the building schedule.
