The Very Confusing Art Of: Lisette Ramos-Taylor Spring, 2019
My art is meant to spark questions, not to answer them...
Finding Your Own Way Through my work, I wanted to display how an older concept could be explored by myself. I did this by referencing different artists and incorperating them into my own work. I had determined this theme by composing up to 5o sketches (some imges represented to the left) and compiled them into one body of work. I wanted to carefully choose which elements of these artists and pieces I would reference, and where I would insert my own personality. The references and my own style had to find a way to coexist. It was also essential to explore different mediums through this process. I used a combination of painting, mark making, collage, and digital painting in order to show the audience how many different ways a piece could be interpreted. I wish to show the audience versatility. By Dabbling back and forth between where my work ends and the artist’s influence begins. It is expected that the viewer walk away with feelings of confusion, fear, and recollection. The body of work shows alternative realities in which the viewer can place judgment on a space and or character objectivley. This collection is a tribute to the artists before me,the techniques that I have learned, and being able to incorperate them into my own work. -L.RT <3
