1 Einheit, Vielfalt, Komposition book, photography, analysis 2013 supervised by Caroline Perret

„During the workshop ‚Einheit, Vielfalt, Kompostion‘ (unity, diversity, composition) by Caroline Perret, I produced two little books. They‘re about the city library of Stuttgart.

„While the first book is a photo documentary of the ‚Stadtbibliothek Stuttgart“‚ of its structures, architecture and the patterns inside and outside, the second book is full of drawings that play with the shapes captured in the beginning.“

2 Angled LED task light 2012 supervised by Prof. Winfried Scheuer AM Ulrike Rogler

„Take the classic task light Anglepoise – designed 80 years ago by George Carwardine, still in production, the epitome of the task light – and turn it upside down. The functionality is still there, but something‘s different ...“

„The project‘s task was, to design a LED reading light, that shows the possibilities of the LED technology. Angled is playing a game with that. It evolved from a simple idea: the so called „Anglepoise“ is turned upside down. Why? Why not? Old habits get twisted when almost anything is possible.“

„Anglepoise was exhibited at the world‘s biggest trade fair for lighting and buildings: The Light+Building in Frankfurt. I‘ve been part of the ‚Young Design‘ section.“

3 Walter tape dispenser 2011 supervised by Prof. Winfried Scheuer AM Ulrike Rogler

„I wanted to make a tape dispencer made out of concrete and steel - just like a building, that doesn‘t move.“

two parts of steel: the points of function

concrete = heavy weight

two rings of rubber to hold the tape

„Walter is named Walter refering to Walter Gropius, founder of the Bauhaus. That‘s because I used strict geometries. The measures are following the mathematical fibonacci row: 0, 1, 1, 2, 3, 5, 8, 13 …“

4 Bird‘s Nest birdhouse 2012 supervised by Prof. Uwe Fischer AM Manuel Messmer

„A little home for a little bird. Not only for people who live on the countryside with big gardens and trees but for those living in an urban environment.“

„The idea was to combine a little wooden box and a screw clamp. People are able to attach the birdhouse to window ledges, balconies and other edges that urban architectures are offering. And it can be installed without drilling into walls or nailing trees.“

5 „I will a gscheits Gschenk“ postcard 2011 supervised by Prof. Winfried Scheuer AM Ulrike Rogler

„The headline is saying ‚I want a proper gift!‘ in the local regional dialect, that is called ‚swabian‘.“

„The postcard was made to advertise a sales booth that the class of Prof. Winfried Scheuer had in a design shop called „Magazin“ in Stuttgart. The students designed and produced christmas gifts, that were more inventive and different to the stuff that is normally for sale at a christmas market. This postcard was made as a flyer and give-away to promote the sales show“

I will a gscheits Gschenk!

„The drawing of the girl is drawn by myself, just for this postcard. It shows a girl who‘s unhappy about her boring gifts she got for christmas.“
