2. The Maniwa Canal River Navigation Routes Abya Yala is the original name for the continent of The Americas, it represents the ideology from Indigenous peoples’ perspective to preserve their cultures, traditions, and values for a future in connection with the Pachamama, the mother earth. Through the investigation of their traditions, rituals, and way of living, the proposal speculates about the future of indigenous people in the continent by finding a balance between their perspective and the western ideologies. The design of the Maloka recreates the experience during the ritual of Ayawáskha as means of purification of people by creating spaces that encourage the reinforcement of their values, the connection with nature, the universe and the spiritual world as well as healing the wounds form capitalism and colonialism in the Maniwa, the Amazon rain forest. The project is divided in three phases across the design proposal as below, each one represents a different consciousness level during the Ayawáskha ritual and a scale of approach that respond to the problematic found during the research.

Pacha Huk: The Indigenous & the Entheogenic Praxis. (The users and the way of Inhabiting) The inquire on indigenous epistemology and ontologies enabled to identify what it means to be Indigenous as beings More-than-humans and the Praxis of Ayawåskha as means of connection with nature. By creating the knowledge zone of the indigenous perspective, the Maloka is redefine as a typology for architecture where nature is used as design elements and the ritual stimulations are part of the experience of inhabiting the architecture. The design proposal speculates in the enhancement of indigenous values, their way of inhabiting the forest, and understanding of the world as a respond to the damage caused to nature by other ideologies. The Maniwa plays an important part in regulating the world’s oxygen and carbon cycles enabling the existence of life. The excessive extraction of resources from the current capitalist model compromise all life form in and out of the Amazon rainforest. The Maniwa Canal is a proposed development for the rainforest which aim to integrate both the Indigenous Praxis with the western ideology and speculates about a sustainable economic model for the region in connection to nature and indigenous values.

Architecture: the Ritual Experience

Pacha Iskay: The Maniwa Canal Economy (Economic Model and Master Plan) The design of the network is based on navigation routes used for trade between the different indigenous cultures and the settlement arrangement pattern that existed across the Amazon basin prior of the colonisation period. By reactivating the indigenous economy, it enables these cultures to integrate their techniques and knowledge of the forest to current extractive processes and redefine them as new form of Nature regeneration through a different form of agriculture and energy production based on their praxis. The proposal considers the production of Ayawáskha, the ancient medicine, related goods, and knowledge created as part of the process as the principal resources for trade. The proposed network is envisioned as a sharing system of mutual benefit following the indigenous values aiming to expand beyond the Amazon basin.

Part Kimsa: AMPO Settlement Ancient Medicinal Praxis Organisation (Programme, Architecture and Culture) Expanding on the opportunities that Ayawáskha offer to the contemporary science, the integration of its traditional use with new technologies enables to speculate about new ways of understanding the brain, mind and consciousness by expanding the connection with nature. The proposal of the AMPO as the centre of the design responds to the integration of the proposed economic model applied to the Ayawáskha medicine production and regulation of its use. The proposed Maloka uses the ritual typology as a form of distribution of the programme transforming the process of medicine production into a ritual sequence itself. The facilities enable spaces for all phases of the transmutation of the plant, from soil production, cultivation, research, medicine production, treatment, and administration. The main purpose of the organisation is to collect data about enhancement the connection with nature, use this knowledge as an approach to regulate and develop settlements across the Maniwa Canal as well as the Amazon basin region, and stablish a new precedent for sustainable design from an indigenous perspective that can be used in other part of the world that considered multiple scales and that aims to redefine the values and models of the contemporary society.

The design of the master plan responds to a sustainable model of production in the Amazon for a world scale trade which selfregulate and redefine its impact in nature. The principal community is proposed to be located at the Uakari as the centre of the project development, the island at the hearth of the Maniwa which is at a strategic junction between Ucayali river and Caquetá/ Japurá river that connects the island Machu Pichu and Cusco (old Inca Empire capital) southern region of the old Chibcha civilization and its capital Bacatá (Bogotá) through the Magdalena river. The rivers merges into the Amazon river and connect to the Atlantic Ocean and other parts of the planet.

The construction of the Space Elevator (SE) will represent the most ambitious technological development of the 22nd century and the most revolutionary in the history of humankind. Geologically restricted, the space elevator must be constructed on the rock summit of the archaeological site of Sigiriya, Sri Lanka. With such a prominent location, there will be a global interest to invest in the project and its adjacent developments. Sigiriya will become a new world capital and will encompass the first Earth Terminal to connect humankind with space.

The ancient city of Sigiriya, a UNESCO world heritage site, is one of the remaining ruins of the Anuradhapura Kingdom which reveals fifth century history of civilisation in Sri Lanka. The SE will create a change in the activities around the site, as well as the country, modifying the perception of Sri Lankan culture. The urban strategy aims to analyse the archaeological site in relation to the SE; proposing an approach, based on the study of the ruins and its surroundings, to address the prospective rapid urbanisation.

As part of the master plan the design proposal envisages a new museum which looks to expose the history of early Sri Lankan Man; starting from the first inhabitants looking towards the construction of the Space Elevator. Motifs are drawn from the most representative elements and objects from each of Sri Lanka’s diverse historical periods and are utilised as instruments speculating towards a future for Sigiriya.
