What do you most enjoy about your work as a Locksmith? I find it extremely rewarding and satisfying to help individuals, businesses and organisations to find a security solution. I enjoy the challenge of tailoring the best solution to the situation, and educating customers about their options so that they are making an informed choice for their security requirements. I enjoy the variety of work as this keeps everyday interesting and keeping informed about product developments in electronic/digital security + access control. What are some of the skills and abilities necessary for someone to succeed as a locksmith? As a person you need to be patient, analytical, determined, adaptable, and have great customer service skills. I don't think you ever fully master everything, so you need to accept being a life long learner to remain competitive and up to date with technology. Skills required include good time management, communication & listening skills, technical aptitude, a passion for locksmithing, self drive & motivation and good eyesight! What are your career goals? My career goals are to grow Procare Locksmiths to be the largest Locksmith company in WA. Since starting here in 2015 I

have seen significant change within the business. In 2016 a retail locksmith shop was opened in Dunsborough. In late 2017, a second retail locksmith shop was opened in Bunbury. In March 2018, Procare dropped all other service divisions and became a specialised locksmith only business. Under my guidance, the business has grown to 6 full time staff including 2 apprentices. My goal is to become the Operations Manager of Procare Locksmiths and continue providing the latest in digital access solutions, high quality safes and security screens, and managing the majority of government and commercial restricted systems in the area. What does winning the award of 'Australia's Best Young Locksmith' mean to you? Winning the ABYL award would send a strong message to my colleagues and apprentices as well as to others that hard work, patience and determination pays off. Young locksmiths have a lot of opportunity to take the trade towards an exciting future, and I would like to think that what I have managed to achieve at a young age and the risks I have taken would inspire other locksmiths to do the same. Locksmithing is a dynamic industry and I am very proud to be part of it. I would be very humbled to win the 2018 ABYL award!

KEY LOCKOUT
LSC is pleased to announce the latest in electric strike evolution. Designed and engineered in Australia by RMD Innovations, the joint venture of Geoff Ross, Drew Marget, Nick Papas and Phil Millikin, this ingenious strike has a range of features to add greater flexibility and security to your installations.
The RMD team has also designed the strike to perform a key override function. In the event of a hardware or system failure you will still be able to open by turning and holding the key in an anti – clockwise direction. This releases the lip of the strike to allow access and then returns to its normal state of operation upon removing the key.
Incorporating a keyed cylinder in the body, the RMD strike gives the ability to lock out the access control system quickly and easily in the event of an emergency or lost credential situation. Not only does the strike allow you to secure the entry point quickly but it could save hundreds in static guard fees overnight or on the weekend whilst waiting on a tech.
The strike range utilises a 001 inner style cylinder providing restricted keying options for the Locksmith and the end user. It is available in 12 or 24v, fail safe and fail secure which is configurable on site should you need.
