The following letter was penned in 1869 to family back home by a visitor to Lee’s Summit:

“ We had the pleasure, a day or two since, of

spending a few hours in the beautiful and growing young town of Lee’s Summit. The location is delightful, and we should judge, one of the most healthy and pleasant in the country. The people are energetic, moral and industrious class, and it requires no prophetic vision to foretell for Lee’s Summit a bright and splendid future.” Today, Lee’s Summit still possesses a unique sense of time and place, delivering on the promise of a community where anything is possible.
