Looking Ahead to 2016 We are heading into 2016 full steam and I am both honored and excited to serve as the Lee’s Summit Chamber Chair of the Board. It’s a great time to be a part of the Lee’s Summit Chamber and the community. With new businesses coming aboard and member engagement increasing, we have an opportunity to lead Lee’s Summit to new levels.

Vicky Cundiff, 2016 Chair Weed Man

The value the Chamber offers its members comes in many different forms. Whether you’re a Chamber veteran or a new member, it’s time to push forward and challenge yourself to reach new goals. Introduce yourself to a new member, sponsor a Chamber event, attend a development seminar or put your skills to work with a committee. By partnering with Chamber members you are actively improving your business network as well as supporting your community. I encourage you to pay attention to the businesses and services you use throughout the year in both your personal and professional life, and challenge you to make an extra effort to support Chamber member businesses. For example, who did your taxes? Where’d you buy that cup of coffee? We are an organization of nearly 1,000 members and have reached that peak by supporting one another. Help us continue to grow the Chamber and strive to fulfill our mission: creating opportunities for business success. I’m proud to call this community home and I want to say “thank you.” Thanks to my family, colleagues and Chamber friends for their support. I appreciate the dedication from our past Chair, board members, staff, committees and, particularly, your contributions in making Lee’s Summit a great place to work, live and raise a family. Here’s to making 2016 the best year yet!

Yours Truly, Vicky Cundiff Weed Man 2016 Chair of the Board

Member Events & News Saint Luke’s East Hospital receives Missouri Chamber of Commerce and Industry’s 2015 Fast Track Award Saint Luke’s East Hospital has been named one of the eight 2015 Fast Track Award winners by the Missouri Chamber of Commerce and Industry. Since the creation of the award in 2003, this is only the second time it has been presented to an acute care hospital- the first was in 2014 to Hedrick Medical Center, which is part of Saint Luke’s Health System. The Missouri Chamber Fast Track Award winners are selected from nominations of companies within seven revenue sectors, with annual revenues ranging from $1 million to more than $1 billion. The winners are those that have experienced the greatest rate of growth in each sector throughout the past four years. The hospital was selected this year as an example of outstanding growth. Over the last four years, hospital gross revenues at Saint Luke’s East Hospital have grown nearly 50 percent, reaching near $900 million in 2014.

To meet a growing demand in the community, Saint Luke’s East Hospital has expanded nearly every year since it opened a decade ago. The latest expansion, opening in January, adds 30 new inpatient beds, bringing the total to 201 beds. In addition to growing the physical campus, Saint Luke’s East Hospital has also worked to expand by adding more clinic-based caregivers—doubling the size of its primary care service and adding numerous specialists. Saint Luke’s East Hospital has also expanded its presence by partnering with smaller health facilities in the region. “The people who work here are what makes Saint Luke’s East Hospital successful,” Ron Baker, CEO said. “Everybody understands their role in the success of this hospital- allowing us to provide the highest quality of care each and every time. We’re honored that the Missouri Chamber has recognized our hard work with the distinguished Fast Track Award.”

Southeast Enterprises Hosts Holiday Light Recycling Drive The Holiday Light Recycling Drive, now entering its fourth year, grew from humble beginnings. In 2011, Southeast Enterprises launched its first drive with the intent of providing work opportunities for its employees with developmental disabilities and diverting solid waste from local landfills. With limited time and resources, Southeast Enterprises partnered with 11 Sutherlands locations to collect 500 pounds of lights. From 2012 to 2014, Southeast aggressively pursued partnerships with a variety of schools, businesses and

organizations throughout the Greater Kansas City Area. The response from the community was overwhelming and Southeast Enterprises ultimately has collected more than 124,000 pounds of lights from 165 different locations the past three years. This year, they’re goal is to collect more than 40,000 pounds of lights with the help from many sponsors and partners. If you’re thinkin’ green, drop off your lights at participating locations. The drive runs from November 14 to January 16. To find your local drop site, visit kcrecyclelights.com.
