Elements of the Timetable Improvisation Session in 2013 Academic Writing and Assignment You will be guided through the steps required to write a successful academic essay and, in the process, improve your knowledge of academic grammar, vocabulary and discourse. Improvisation for English Fluency You will participate in workshops which explore how improvisation techniques can lead to greater self‐ confidence, spontaneity of expression and improved communication skills. Survey Group and Presentations You will work in groups to write a questionnaire and then to present the results to the rest of the course. This will give you the opportunity to practice team‐work, finesse your presentation skills and interview members of the public. Debates and Pronunciation At the end of the week you will take part in an academic debate. In preparation for this, you will practice debating skills and key areas of pronunciation and voice. Seminar Discussion To be successful in seminars you need a wide range of skills. These sessions will help you to listen effectively to others, negotiate meaning, and explain and justify your position. Media, Finance & Society, Politics & Society and Literature & Society These sessions will help you to take full advantage of the educational trips and will help you to develop a better understanding of British culture and society. English for Professional Purposes In these sessions you will learn about careers, networking and job applications.
