Print matters. Call me a hopeless optimist, a lover of analogue, a luddite if you must. But when I want to learn something new, commune with an artist’s body of work, lose myself in a poem, or devise a permaculture garden—I reach for a book. I’m not alone in this passion for the printed page. If you’re in the business of building books, or making exhibition catalogs of groundbreaking shows, I suspect we share this love of the permanent record. I believe the experience of the printed work, the flipping through and returning to, is so often more potent than the click and the download. That’s why I’ve sent you this little bit of ink on paper. A small analog gift in a very virtual world. Talk to me about your upcoming project. Real ink on real paper. Something to celebrate still. —Laura
