Old Orchard Shopping Center is one of the most significant shopping centers in the Midwest and an international prototype of the open mall. The plan is a series of buildings with storefronts that turn inward - encouraging strolling and leading shoppers through a process of discovery at each turn - its design places emphasis on the element of surprise, of variety, piquing customers’ curiosity about what lies around each corner. Garden setting lends charm to Chicago’s newest shopping center

Engaged to design a modernist residential building, the fi rm created a concept that departs from the conventional repetition of dwelling units expressed above and adjacent to one another in replicate, static format. Instead, the design expresses a vertical emphasis and a composition that generates a dynamic quality rarely found in buildings
of this type. The high-tech photovoltaic glass curtain wall substantially reduces heat absorption on east, west and south exposures while at the same time providing a high degree of visual transparency to the exterior in addition to generating electric power. Horizontal curtain wall elements create a subtle screen-like texture, adding both interest and identity to the faรงade.

Today’s economic crisis requires hospitals to be innovative and seek less capitalintensive ways to enhance their capacity. Hospitals understand the need to re-assess their financial capacity and re-evaluate their capital spending priorities quickly to survive and thrive. Our integrated team can help you leverage the hidden capacity within your facilities, strategically allocate your existing resources, and re-prioritize your facility investment plans by applying a combination of operational assessments, process improvements, organization alignment strategies and financial modeling. This allows our team to identify your strategic goals and align them with allocation of available resources.

An 11-story modernist complex with a children’s hospital, general hospital, specialty hospital and a hotel/apartment tower that together demonstrate a dynamic building composition. Along with luxury and unique apartment views, sustainability had a large influence on the design as seen in the high-tech curtain wall with sun shades.
The design for the residential and hotel component of the campus provides the best of amenities and aesthetics to make the hotel guest and apartment resident feel that they are “at home. The design incorporates the residential units and the hotel units into one structure, but provides separate entrances and appropriate amenities needed to allow for privacy.
