»Jocassee Gorges’ topography and climate provides perfect conditions that support its incredible biodiversity, with an amazing range of flora and fauna. The steep terrain accounts for spectacular waterfalls throughout Upstate South Carolina and Western North Carolina. More than 60 rare plants, including 90% of the world’s Oconee Bells, can be found in the Jocassee Gorges.

»The lake’s 7,500 acres are fed by a 125-square mile watershed and the mountain streams of North Carolina, and has over a million acres of protected land surrounding the lake.

»Devils Fork State Park, located on the southern side of Lake Jocassee, is called an outdoor lover’s paradise. The clear, clean water provides for endless water activities including boating, swimming, fishing, snorkeling and scuba diving. Take an easy hike to Sassafras Mountain, the highest point in South Carolina. The summit, at 3,350 feet above sea level, provides a magnificent panoramic view of South Carolina, North Carolina, and Georgia. Other local hikes take you to beautiful Twin Falls, Whitewater Falls or Spoonauger Falls.
