Let Me In Written by Muka
I was living all by myself in a log cabin in the woods. One cold winter day, a bear stopped by.
Boom, boom, boom! He knocked on my bedroom window. When I opened it, I found a big bear standing outside. I was scared, but took courage and asked, “Can I help you?” “Let me in.” “Don’t you have a house?” “I lost it yesterday when there was a rockslide in the mountains. Please let me stay with you until the spring comes.” “Hold on. Let me think about it.”
What should I do? Should I open the door? It is very cold. What if the bear eats me? But I can’t let him freeze to death outside.
“Fine, you can come in. But don’t cause any trouble.” I made him promise.

And the bear agreed.
But the bear was too big for my house. He broke my stuff. He ate too much. And he pooped way too much.
It became harder to live with the bear. I wished that he would leave.
One day, the bear did something really bad. He broke the model ship that I was building.
I was so angry.
“Get out! I can’t live with you another minute!” “Hit the road!” The bear opened the door and slogged out into the snow. But I continued to scream Until I couldn’t see him anymore.
Just in case he came back, I boarded up the door and the windows.
Even so, I was anxious and couldn’t fall asleep.

I felt a little sorry for the bear, But mostly I was relieved. Eventually, I fell asleep at the table, and the bear appeared in my dream.
He spoke to me in a fierce voice. “You kicked me out even though it was just an accident. I’m not going to forgive you!” He leapt at me, And I woke from the dream, waving my arms around.
When I opened my eyes, the house was burning. I must have knocked down the lamp in my sleep And that caused a fire. The fire spread quickly, so I couldn’t even try to put it out. I tried to escape, but the door was boarded up.
I hid away from the fire in a corner, But I was becoming dizzy from the smoke and heat. Just when I was thought I was dead, Bang! Crash! The bear broke in.
He picked me up in his arms And broke out through a burning wall.

The bear was covered in burns. His fur was scorched, and his head was bleeding. “I’m so sorry, I’m so sorry…” I said over and over. But the bear rubbed my back and said, “It’s ok, it’s ok…”
We started building a new house for us to live in together. This time, the house was much bigger so the bear would be comfortable too. We went fishing together, And we slept together.
Then, one warm spring day, the bear left, But I wasn’t lonely. Because…
Some new friends came to visit me.
