It’s an easy activity to finish the last few minutes of the class. While reinforcing some of the things the students learnt , give this fun tic tac toe game a try. This is really fun. Use it to do revision of the vocabulary you have studied. You draw a large noughts & crosses table on the whiteboard . You divide the class in two groups, you can ask them to choose a name for each group. It is really a competition when you divide the class in boys and girls. Boys are a Cross and girls a circle. The first group has to choose one square , if they create a correct sentence with the word chosen, you draw their sign in the square. To get a point they have to complete three consecutive squares with their sign.

THE

CATERPILLAR

BOARD GAME

You bring in the classroom 10 cardboards of different colours and you make a caterpillar as in the picture.

You divide the class in 2 teams. The winner will be the first team to go through all the colours and say them correctly. In order to move from one colour to the next the players will have to play “rock, paper, scissors” with you. If you win, the team that plays with you doesn’t proceed and remains at the same square. Then it’s the other team’s turn. One of its students plays “rock, paper, scissors” with you. If you lose and the player wins then he/she proceeds to say the colour of the next square. In case he/she doesn’t remember the colour, the team doesn’t proceed and stays at the same square until it’s their turn again.

This game can be played at any time to revise vocabulary. You can use flashcards or make your own drawings.

GUESS

THE WORD

The class is divided in two groups. Each group has to describe or explain the meaning of a word and the other group has to find the word. It is an excellent way to revise words when a unit is completed especially with advanced students. e.g. ‘’a person who is traveling in an bus, train, airplane, one who is not the driver or the pilot”. The answer should be ….. “passenger”
