Current prosthesis is worn out. What now?

Medical history • ♂: 75 jaar • Medical: – Several surgical operations on knee, shoulder, hallux valgus – hypertension – Floxyfral (antidepressant) – Patient is good general condition and fysically active


Intraoral history • The implants in the lower jaw are more than 30 years in function • Implants are: Machined Branemark implants • Cast dolderbar on old type of abutments, the bar is seriously worn out. • The original dentist has retired, through an acquaintance patient arrives in our department • The overdetnure in the mouth is totally worn out, patient desires a more fixed solution • On Teleradiography patient has a skeletal Class III relation • Patient has good oral health, no plaque accumulation, no periimplantitis • 2/4 implants show modest bone loss , a very good result taking into account that the implants have 30 years of function


What can we do? • Only a new prosthesis? • Nieuwe prothesis + – Locator? – Ball? – New bar (cad cam?)

• Fixed work • Should something been done with the upper jaw?
