01 Hospitality LO CAT I O N: H ON OLU LU, H I D UR AT I ON : 16 W EEKS I N D I V I D UAL PROJ ECT FA L L 20 1 9 OBJECTIVE Developed a hotel renovation design in a city of choice. This up-scale boutique hotel included the client’s vision and used city inspiration. The design scope included spaceplanning of the lobby, restaurant, ballroom, and guest floor.

FU RN ITU RE

CONCEPT The intent behind the design for Hotel Kou was to take inspiration from the geography and architecture around the island from the 1960’s era. The focus of the space was to implement a bright and airy feel. This was accomplished by using an abundance of windows, painting walls white, and adding pops of rose pink and sage green. Simple and clean lined furniture was mixed with a whimsical flair to balanced retro and modern design. PROGRAMS USED Revit Photoshop InDesign

The design challenge was to create a space that showcased many furniture systems and made a working office for National’s employees.

CONCEPT The design concept behind this project was to create a bright, welcoming space with smooth circulation flow and distinct spaces to showcase different lines. We split the space up in two different sections; the front half being the showroom and the back half was the workspace.

OBJECTIVE Developed a renovation plan for the design of a historic building in Cedar Falls; an adaptive reuse project. This was the first project I completed in Revit. It focused on how to navigate Revit, build custom extrusions, and become familiar with Revit models.

Break Room

Restroom

CONCEPT The design concept behind Bakeology was to preserve the materials of the original building. Original exposed brick was found throughout the space. Natural elements such as rustic wood and plants were disbursed to bring life to the space. The floor plan shows the kitchen, offices, and mechanical room in the back and the products and seating in the front.

05 Kitchen & Bath D UR AT I ON : 3 W EEKS I ND I V I D UAL PROJ ECT SP R I NG 201 8 OBJECTIVE Design a kitchen and bath with guidelines from NKBA (National Kitchen and Bath Associations) 2018 and if desired, enter designs into competition. The task was to design a kitchen and bathroom with the floor plan provided by the NKBA.

CONCEPT Modern materials and finishes throughout the kitchen and bathroom made for a simple yet inviting space. Since the kitchen is a spot to linger, adding seating and natural light was necessary. The spa was the inspiration behind the bathroom design. Adding materials such as glass and subway tile made the space feel clean and modern.

07 Single-Family LOCAT I ON : IOWA G R O UP P R OJ ECT (6 PEOPLE) SP R I NG 201 8 OBJECTIVE Restored an old barn for a family of four. The father worked from home, the mother loved vibrant colors and sunlight, and their daughter had Autism. Making sure that all family members needs were met throughout the space was the main objective. Building a barn model to scale was an important part of the project. CONCEPT The family enjoyed the Bohemian Chic style. We incorporated that style throughout the design in patterns, textures, and furniture selections. As a group we researched what environments were best for individuals with Autism. We equally divided up responsibilities of the project. My portion of the project was to design the floor plan and make a rendering of the daughter’s room.
