What Causes Ringing in the Ears

Tinnitus is a medical term for ringing sensation of ears. There are several causes of tinnitus. In line to this, some conditions can worsen tinnitus. However, the exact cause of this condition is unknown. According to experts, tinnitus is cause by damage of inner ear cell. The inner ear contains small and delicate hairs. These hairs are moving with the influence of sound waves. It triggers the ear cells to produce an electrical signal from the auditory nerve to the brain. The brain interprets these signals as sound. If these small hairs break, it can result into leaks. This will result into random electrical nerve impulses to the brain. It can cause to ringing sensation, which is ringing of ears or tinnitus. 2. Environmental related factors Exposure to intense noise can cause tinnitus. Any person who is exposes to noises of chain saws, firearms, and other heavy machines can lead to noise-related hearing loss. Listening to loud music can contribute, as well. There are two related factors that can cause tinnitus. The short-term contact to loud noises can cause tinnitus, but it does not last longer. The long-term contact to loud noises can lead to permanent hearing problem. 3. Blockage of earwax The ear canal is the passageway for sound waves. Therefore, it must be free from dirt. Moreover, the earwax is produce in the inner ear. It is the protection of the ear. The earwax traps the dirt. It reduces the growth of microorganism which causes infection. The solid earwax is difficult to clean. This condition can lead to CERUMENAL IMPACTION. This will result into hearing loss or irritation of eardrum. Eventually, tinnitus can occur. 4. Changes in the ear bones There is a condition called OTOSCLEROSIS. It refers to the stiffening of the ear bones. It can affect the sense of hearing. This can cause tinnitus.
