Building Facades Excisting Site Collage

The analysis of Wandsworth town existing grid, started by dividing it in its streets centre; into party walls, which explain the number of building which share at least a wall, and the layout of the building facades. This shows the density of buildings in Wandsworth town, the existing layout of the streets, similarities in design, in general the grid and most important the spaces which are empty or abandoned.

The scheme is designed with the purpose of integrating people to the dancers as soon as they come inside the building. The main idea/concept of the building is to integrate each other as well as to the dancers, people which come from different backgrounds, have different interests or different ages. Therefore the courtyard in the middle of the building becomes of most importance, since is a common space to be shared by Dancers and the Public; also from where the dancers can be easily seen practicing inside the studios.

The Animator is based on the Transmission of Light and in the Blackberry which was the start point “element. After studying the Backberries reproduction system, the Aggregation of Cells will become another key quality and it will translate on to pieces Stacking onto each other, and Fragmentation of the space through different views.

Same space different views

When looking inside the Animator the

view is successfully fragmented and animated by light.

The view can be always the same but every time the animator changes position the

space outside changes by the transmission of light.

Light Pavilion Designed as a place to relax, and appreciate light; thinking about the coordinates so the inside will be always in transition as the sun changes direction. The wood roof and walls, and the glass position are a key factor in the design.

1m2 Study

This project was based on 1m2 of land that the student had to pick and study, to translate into an architectural language.

After studying the surface of the 1m2 I Focus on: Variety of textures. Patterns + transitions= contrast. The elements that includes: as smoothness, fluid, hard and soft. Reflection.
